Is it a sackable offence?

Lots of call on social media for the Groundsman to be sacked? Considering how few games we’ve played this season - has he been negligible or just plain unlucky?

It’s so incompetent it has to be planned.

With the squad in its current state, against a top 4 side the club have decided to use any opportunity to push the game further down the road.

If there’s an advert in a weeks time for heads groundsman then I will be wrong. But I just can’t see how this wasn’t planned.

Before the burton game was called off, I took the mickey out of burton players and hasselbaink of bottling it but now it’s becoming a joke now that both Peterborough and now Doncaster are called off and local clubs like Fleetwood and morecambe have got smaller grounds and smaller funds than us and they still manage to get games on so I think you gonna have to ask questions about our ground staff and whether they have been trying hard enough to prepare the pitch and it’s not a good look for us is it? 🙁

I'm no groundsman but surely he must look at the forecast? Said on previous posts I always plan for the work days before. Knew I had until 2pm today and of Wednesday because of rain.

The calling for the groundsman's head probably comes from words feeling that they have less potency on the internet - I doubt the weight of those words really connect with those who have put it.

I can understand the frustration though, we are looking like a seriously tinpot outfit. I have never known 4 games to be postponed in just over a month - in fact I don't think I've known that in a season. It is a bit of a shambles really.

Let's wait for the club to make a statement eh? I think calling for a guy to be potted without knowing all the facts is poor, but as posted already these comments are most likely borne from frustration.

As a pool fan, I admit to being a little embarrassed when Morecambe can still play after (apparently) enduring similar weather. It's also very frustrating of course.

I see that, amongst the several threads tonight , the SLO has agreed to ask the club about the pitch. Let's see what the club says. I suspect SS is just as embarrassed and frustrated as we are.

Some of our fan base are embarrassing at times, particularly on Twitter.

First the Burton game the amount of abuse aimed at Burton was embarrassing and now the groundsman is getting it for tonight, unfortunately the weather is one thing out of our control and these things happen, why can’t our fans just accept things instead of wanting a full investigation who is to blame etc.

Also whilst I’m at it, fans who have the energy to argue with other teams fans on Twitter I don’t get, your gonna back your team they will back their team it’s pointless and a bit sad if you ask me. Bit of banter before/after a game fair enough but tweet after tweet arguing, give it a rest.

The thing is, lets think about how many games we have called off due to the weather this season. We've had Burton, Peterborough, Doncaster, and Northampton. That is 4 games called off due to the pitch conditions. In the premier league season we had 3 games called off due to the pitch being frozen in the December (Liverpool, Man U, and Tottenham). The only reason we're making such a song and dance about it this season is due to the already shortened schedule, and the previous covid postponements. This seems to be relatively par for the course.

I decided not to say what I really think about some of our so called fans response to this but I’ll leave it at ”do you seriously think this was planned”?

Oh and I suggest you rethink your opening paragraph as well I think you”ll find that doesn’t actually make sense.

What a crass post! It’s quite simple. The football pitch is not very much above sea level, plus we have had so much rain this winter = a very high water table. Result, nowhere for the water to disperse. The groundsman is not at fault...

This post is so unbelievably ridiculous! Where the Hell are you coming from?

Meaning the groundsman can’t have been that incompetent. Not putting covers in for a few hours before a downpour? Come on.

Squads on its arse with a few key players only a week or so away.

A situation arises to put the game off, the club take it.

If we really wanted to play this and the Peterborough game we’d have got it on.

So yes I can believe the club today planned not to do anything to stop the pitch becoming waterlogged in order to push a tough game to a date where we’d have “ a better chance” of winning it.

We’ve done it previously this season so yes I think some thought went into this today.

Doncaster in poor form. Best time to play them. If we’re being shithouses then we don’t deserve to make the play offs

Form is very temporary, they came back from 3-1 down in the last minute against a top two side just a few days ago. You could argue their very recent form is outstanding.

They’ve already beaten us once, they’re in the top four for a reason.

Our squads on its arse currently,

I can see people at the club using the rain as a way of putting this off.

There was one free Tuesday before this postponement, bingo.

I imagine this will be our last weather affected game this season now due to their being no more dates to re arrange. Very convenient.

Our squad is on its arse????? We have just won 4 out of our last 5 games and are top of the division form table...... do you really believe what you are posting?

Squad on it’s arse..you mean the same one that won on Saturday against a side near the top.
...having Brett as your avatar is an insult to the great man.

Just list who’s out for me would you.

A chance comes up to put it off till the majority of these are back. You take it.

Yep, after one of our furthest away trips, with 4/5 key players out against a top four side, a situation comes up. You take it.

Have you not been able to cuddle one of your teddy bear avatars tonight? Or are you always this angry about a called off game?

And not a shred of evidence to back up any of your bold claims. Just a general gut feeling that you get from time to time and you've never been wrong yet eh?
I bet you re all over the major conspiracy theories too eh?
Lots of rain, games called off.. That's it! Same as.. Very very cold, pitch re freezes.. Game called off

I’ve not claimed I have evidence, I’m mean we’re only on a message board where we share our thoughts on Blackpool FC arnt we, weird all this posting lark about our club isn’t it.

I mean by the logic of your last paragraph, I’m surprised there are any games on in this country with the amount of rain we get if Rain = called off matches.

The point I pulled you up on was regarding our squad being on its arse........ that’s simply not true is it?
It’s not looking great is it.

Only One striker who looks like he can score, the other being injured and the loanee looking well not very potent.

our best player currently out but nearing a return.

2 centre backs out and a left back filling in.

Sounds great eh.

My point being, with that going on, why play it now when you can play it without these injuries.

4 wins out of 5 sounds good enough to me. Squad players stepping up when given a chance, who would have thought it? 😉

Yeah he planned it with the clouds.

Jump on board mate. Everyone else seems to be having a go with insults, include some of those.

Planned not to do anything about a downpour though?

Not like it’s never rained in this country is it? We’ve all been to games when it’s pissed it down.

Sounds good to me too.

But you can play one of the toughest side in the league in 2 months time when you have your best players back.

All it takes is inaction for 3/4 hours, I’d do it.

Whats the point of delaying the fixture if you end up playing later in the season Sat, Tues, Thurs, Sat with unknown injuries/suspensions etc.

Unfortunate that the hot air generated on here and other social media things could not be recycled to Bloomfield Rd, pitch would be bone dry in an hour

We’d only be playing Sat, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday if we call off any more games after this.

This rearranged fixture takes up the last free Tuesday before the season ends. Absolutely no loss and maybe a massive gain if we have CJ Madine Marv Gretarsson back.

Lots of questions and lots of answers to be found with our current groundsman, not what it cracks up to be it seems.

Was he even there today? Who knows.
