To ask a pregnant family member what sex do they think or would prefer the baby to be?. In my view not at all, same as if a couple of mixed race were to be having a baby and asked about the colour of the baby. I'm pretty sure the couple, the couples family and close friends would be talking about the issue.
I just can't understand the anger and shock that Megan said "A member of the family asked about the colour of the unborn child". But then again I suppose in this day and age where it's inappropriate to give a child any sort of gender identity anything can be found to be highly offensive. And also you can find racism in anything if you look hard enough.

Yep bang on this

I read something similar from a mate of mine on Facebook who comes from a mixed race family

His view was the same

As said before, it all depends on how it's asked and why.

'Ooh Megan, do you think the baby will look like you or Harry?' is perfectly normal.
'You don't think the baby will be too dark do you?' is obviously racist.

We'll never know the truth.

According to Meghan, it wasn’t a case of someone asking what colour they thought the baby might be.
She said it was a discussion about the baby’s colour and potential problems that could arise.

According to Harry, the comment was made right at the beginning of their relationship before she was pregnant.

According to Megs, it was when she was pregnant.

So, what's this then? Is one of them lying?

Even so, even if the vast majority of us couldn't give a stuff, in that particular social/political circle it may have been a relevant question (even if it did sound inappropriate) and any potential problems needed to be short-circuited before they arose. Just another view.

But it’s not a potential problem. Someone who thinks it is has the issue.
