Also access to imported goods including food.

That has not been possible with the Israeli-Gaza blockade. Add to that the Israeli Government encourages people to move into Palestinian areas of the West Bank and kicks out the home owners.

As a starting point the above issues should be sorted out as soon as possible

Don't disagree with any of that but as I said in my first post, it's easier said than done. There are deep rooted problems and it's been going on for decades and even the worlds great powers and politicians don't seem able to come up with a permanent workable solution.

Good post 3610. I had heard Egypt were making overtures. Let's hope it works. I know Hamas is a terrorist organisation that gets elected but I don't trust Netenyahu.
 
I gather Netanyahu is currently in a corruption trial? I have seen it suggested that storming of the mosque by Israeli police was intended to kick this all off, to allow focus to move onto the common enemy, and manage to steal some more land.

I was referring to the ANC in reply to your Apartheid comment. State capture or looting is in every newspaper in SA everyday.
The Zondo Commission into State Capture is live on TV every weekday for the last two years.

No one has been convicted as it is so entrenched that they would all have to go to jail tomorrow if there was some way to bring them to the courts. There is no will to do that so far

Some UK and US companies involved have paid back millions they added on to tenders for “commissions” for work never carried out

I can’t see a permanent solution to this, the Palestinians want there own state, which is perfectly reasonable after all the Israelis were given their own state after years of not having one. That decision caused all the problems since.

The big issue as I understand it, is that the Palestinians also want Jerusalem as their capital. I just can’t see that ever being given.

Correct. As I mentioned yesterday that Boris and DC are under investigation as of last week. I’m not sure how you don’t know that.

No convictions so far as it will get swept under the carpet. The same as Boris delayed putting India on the Red List while the infections were at 350,000. Now the India variant is taking hold across the UK according to today’s new reports.

So we are back where we started this thread.

Destroying the building in Gaza, that houses the various news agencies, has got nothing to do with kids throwing stones and Hamas firing homemade rockets, and has everything to do with not wanting the world to see what is happening.

Might be a good time for the film Exodus (1960) starring Paul Newman and Eva Marie Sainte to be re-released.
I saw it but can't remember it all.
There was controversy when it was released because it was all in the Jews favour.
Britain did try to stop the boat, from Cyprus with all the Jewish on board, landing but failed.
 
I’ve got no idea at all where a solution might be found. But there does seem to be one difference between the current troubles and earlier ones. And that’s the push back from Arab Israelis and the confrontations between them and Jewish Israelis.

I think we forget in the West that about a fifth of the population in Israel comes from the Arab Community but we rarely hear about it. From the little I know I think the demographic is changing and the population is increasing and although they have some way to go, maybe it’s a bit like in NI where Republicans and non Unionists are now close to being the majority, or the US where the Hispanics, Latinos and African Americans etc are doing likewise.

That doesn’t necessarily provide an immediate solution. But it may be where a solution can be found in the years and decades ahead.

Where the hell do Hamas get them all from? Or are they made locally? Surely they can’t be transported by road/sea as they would be intercepted by the Israelis.
 
The internal violence within Israel seems to be a new thing. Almost reminiscent potentially of Northern Ireland?
Potentially more of a threat to the state of Israel than the incoming rockets I think if it persists ?

But how the hell do they get them in to Gaza?
Like I said it’s landlocked by Israel who will have strict border controls, Israel control off shore with gunboats for that reason and it’s impossible to they fly them in as the only airport (Yasser Arafat International Airport) was forcibly closed by the Israel’s in 2000. 🤔

I read some time ago about trying to persuade the Arab Community to stop the push for a 2 state solution and starting to ask for the vote/democracy.

In a purely numbers game they will outnumber the Jewish community in a relatively short period of time and it's far harder to defend not giving a vote.

I'm sure it wouldn't be as easy as that, but Hamas and their ilk give the Israeli government a free pass to 'defend' itself.

Obviously I am not privy to the smuggling details of Hamas 😉

However, they do have submarines (or did) and as we all know you can smuggle most things anywhere somehow.

It does appear to be a lot of missiles though!!!

I would have thought Israel would be itching for Iran to get involved, so they can go after their nuclear sites as well as others - not that it normally stops them.

It is also highly unlikely Iran will ever get Nukes while Israel exists.
