Interesting analysis from someone who doesn't know how to use apostrophes!

Interesting analysis from someone who doesn't know how to use apostrophes!

Typical lazy type of comment.

Can easily walk through town, front etc without issue, or like many town and cities you can see poverty at times.

"Spent 4 days in Blackpool last month, didn’t see anyone who looked like a smackhead."

"Snobby comments about it being awful, although probably true, everywhere is the same.

Go down Anglia square, or walk through the Larkman in Norwich and it'll be just as lots have described as Blackpool.

Enjoy your weekend everyone who's going, work dictates I miss Saturday but i've always had a good time when staying up there"

"Blackpool is mighty craic, not for people who take themselves too seriously though. No posers or snobs please. Its a fun town for visitors."

"If you want somewhere a bit quieter and you're going by car, then Poulton le Fylde or Lytham St Annes are close by, much nicer than Blackpool for dining options"

That last bit is rubbish, Blackpool has absolutely loads of good places to eat. More than all the surrounding areas combined! That's where a bit of common sense and a quick check of whats available in the area comes in.

If they end up at some cheap place they've only themselves to blame.

Or how to spell Morecambe…

Won’t come & have a natter at HT then.

I must say this one amused me - very deft:
I am aware that it is an area of high social deprivation, a shame some people are so judgemental. I'm sure we'll manage to enjoy our weekend without looking down our noses at people who have been born into acute poverty with next to no life chances.

🤣 👍

Where the fck does Freckleton come from as a place to stay? Christ sick of these lazy assessments of our town. Very simple don't come. It's not perfect but it's where we live and we are doing our best to make it the best we can.

No problem with people calling the town. Parts of the off the prom streets are a horror show. Still no worse than other towns or cities.

If people actually went beyond the tourist areas they'd see it's a decent enough town. Yes places like Dixon Road, Talbot Road and Central Drive let the town down.

Don't like it, don't moan and don't come. Simple!

Would you seriously stop there for a weekend if coming for a game at Blackpool? Unless you were stopping with relatives or friends who live there the answer has to be no.

Quite a lot of decent comments on there. I don't get this whole Blackpool is a big shithole, when you go through 95% of other towns/cities they are dumps too. Preston is one of the worst places I've visited in this country. Gillingham isn't too great either.

Wasn't Norwich voted as the place with the least sense of humour in Britain?
Not surprised as the 3 times I've been, everywhere was closed by 11pm. Pubs all boring and people dull as fuck with no charisma.
Expect to see a lot of Doctor Who style scarves from the back water bumpkins.

I think Mr Angry has the wrong end of the stick, I put his comment in my post to show others disagreed with the thread title post.

Someone seriously suggested Morecambe over Blackpool… jesus.
Went to Coniston last weekend and stopped off in Morecambe on Monday on the way home…. Christ on a bike, it’s as rough as a roofers glove! Lovely walk on the prom and the prom is really nice, but the Town centre and surrounding areas are pretty grim.

The view from Morecambe is fantastic as long as you keep looking across the bay. I feel for the people of Grange and Silverdale who live looking the opposite way !

Luton is even worse

Like one poster said, he was actually defending the Town against criticism.
But If we're having a sweep, I'm still going for 2.55 for the first rendition of the "Blackpool's a shithole" song.
Can't be worse than Bristol City though, they only stopped singing it for a minute to complain about a corner being taken from outside the quadrant, then they got back to it again. Bit boring tbh.

The same fans were probably taking selfies in front of the tower, pleasure Beach and piers earlier.

Unfortunately, the area around the ground doesn't help the town's image much.

Some shithole areas in Bristol- Easton, St.Pauls , Hartcliffe. Broadmead the city centre shopping area is festooned with beggars and low lifes. Feel sorry for that 90 yr old bloke who died jumping from the top floor of a tower block to escape a fire the other day.WTF did whatever housing association he was with put a 90 yr old on the top floor?

Decent little city Norwich, been a few times, coast and countryside around it not too shabby either.
Blackpool isn't for everyone and I'll be honest if i didn't live here I wouldn't visit as theme parks, karaoke bars, and mass produced beers aren't my thing but there is no need to be insulting about it.

Far too measured - wouldn’t survive on AVFTT 😆

Hiya, Mr Angry, Norwich fan here. I thought I would come on here rather than carrying on the conversation through our forum! I hadn't been to Blackpool until last year when I came with my wife and my brother's family-2 girls, aged 12 & 7. We all had a great time. I then came up last month for the punk festival (Rebellion) and again had a great time-not sure what you locals think about 15,000 punks arriving on your doorstep though 🤣 It looks like there are big plans for your town and I hope that these may change the perception that most people (who have probably never visited Blackpool) have.
Also a faintly amusing story-I was at a Norwich game at Burnley in September 2019. I got on the train to Preston after the match-it was already crowded as the previous train had been cancelled. I hadn't paid much attention to the stations on the way out but the first stop on the way back was Accrington. The platform was absolutely packed with Blackpool fans, most of whom looked like they had been drinking all day and were still drinking! The train was delayed by about 30 minutes, not sure if this was to try and pack everyone in or what. The train left eventually but it stopped again outside Blackburn-presumably to make sure that al the Rovers fans had gone. As a result I got home to the Wirral about 2 hours late! The Blackpool fans were great though, singing the whole way and obviously very passionate about their club.
Not sure what to expect on Saturday, sadly I'll be driving because of the rail strike, otherwise I might have stayed in town for a few hours. Good luck for the season.

Hello Mr Angry, you don't seem as angry as I was expecting. 😆

There was a couple a bad comments but mostly good, which I why I put a couple in my post to show you didn't all think that.

Tbh we're used to it and Blackpool is an easy target. It certainly has its issues, however as I believe you said, you can easily walk round and see none of the claimed issues. But equally there are issues there.

The issue is the central area is what the tourists see and its also the poorest area. In most towns these areas aren't on show as such.

However the prom is very nice and so is the town centre generally. Lots of improvements to come too.

It does have its issues but although the figures say so it doesn't really feel any more than many other towns issues whenever I go round, but I dont tend to go down the grotty streets as we know there's nowt there worth going down for.

Also the issues are largely imported, as other towns problem people are attracted to a place they have fond memories of and think their problems will go away, they have invariably brought them with them.

The bonus though is whilst most towns have the same issues maybe on a slightly lesser scale, they don't have all the upsides Blackpool has. Its a beautiful coastline and so much to do.

It gets bad press, but some of the issues are because it's a tourist destination and when you have over 18 million visitors a year, some issues will grow more than normal.

The areas outside the central area are decent enough but no one ever goes there bar locals, so probably judge the town on the central area they've seen.

As for football you seem to have really picked up, I'm sure you could afford to leave empty handed from Bloomfield Road and still be right up there. We could do with the points. How many are you lot bringing?

I've been to Norwich a few times

Once for football and about 6 times for work and to be honest the town centre is a right dump

Even had a liitle scuffle about 15 years ago when I was working on the Chapelfield development and a couple of local dossers tried to rob my laptop from me

I smacked one rat 🐀 and the other one gave it legs

It's like most small cities tbh, nothing special and has its fair share of cunts

I also stayed in a right shite area when I was struggling for accommodation one time, it was proper minging with tramps, dealers and hookers

Wasn't even tempted....

I went to Norwich once and can't remember much about it, which tells you all you need to know. The only thing that sticks in the mind is watching a telephone box cleaner removing dozens of "business cards" from a phone box prior to cleaning it. They were all for hookers. When I passed the box a few hours later the local ladies had replaced all the cards previously removed.

Mr Angry seems like a sound bloke. Not in the least bit angry. Possibly reserves that for derby days with the tractor boys? 🤔

The area around Bristol Rovers' ground looks like Grange Park.

No. I'm not angry at all, my name was a reaction to a lot that was going on with our fanbase when I joined the messageboard in 2008. I'm even less angry now that I've moved up to the Wirral from the South-it's very chilled compared to where I used to live!
I appreciate the response, it's good to get an idea of a place from the people who live there, especially if most people only see it when they're out for the football or on a weekend on the piss. I didn't manage to see much of the coastline, but if it's anything like the parts further down around Crosby then it must be good. We'll definitely be back with my brother and the nieces next year.
Football wise, we haven't been playing brilliantly but have been getting the points generally. Weirdly we've lost twice and both teams have now sacked their manager. Hoping for a win but will be happy with a draw as long as the performance improves. Looks like it will be wet and windy though. No idea how many we're bringing, we usually have good away support but last season we didn't sell our full allocation for the EPL games in the North West so who knows?

Lived in Silverdale 75-77 before I moved to Lancaster. Had a wonderful view across to Grange. Arnside very lovely too.
