I've said all along

If Stewart is on 6k per week that would mean we were over £300,000 under the salary cap at the point we signed him... which would suggest we’re most definitely NOT amongst the highest 3 spenders in this league.
You do know the salary cap was scrapped just over a week after Stewart signed he could be on a higher wage.

What Salary cap??
The £2.5 million cap that was still in place when we signed Kevin Stewart... it was challenged and successfully removed after we signed him. Signing a player on 6k p/w contact seems like a risky move on the chance the challenge was going to be successful

When Stewart was signed (23.01.2021) the EFL wage cap (£2.5m) for League 1 was still in place. I know that players signed prior to the introduction of the wage cap were only included at the divisional average but they weren't Critchy's spend.
He had to recruit within the terms of the overall wage cap.
(The wage cap wasn't scrapped until early Feb 2021.)
I know you get a bit a bit of ITK stuff and if we are paying Stewart £6k pw I'm genuinely shocked but at that point in time it had to be within the £2.5m cap.
I'm not disputing your point that we are in the top 3 for wages either.
BUT I still maintain that Critch hasn't had a bigger budget than previous Managers even if Sadler is personally responsible for contributing far more than the Oystons ever did from his own funds (not difficult).
PS.
Published data has Madine as biggest earner at £3.5k pw although that might be pre Stewart signing.

But insider the salary cap was an absolute sham

Nobody was ever going to stick to it as it was obvious it would get overturned

Sunderland were miles over it and i mean miles

Even back in August nobody took it serious

Just another EFL folly I'm afraid

But thanks for finally answering my question on the figures

It's not even a weak, weak league this season so that's another hopeless assessment.

The top five have all played some very good League 1 standard football at various times and given 6th place will probably be either Charlton or Ipswich, there's going to be some decent teams not going up this season.

Compare that to the promoted three of Wycombe, Coventry and Rotherham from last year and this season looks to be far stronger.
It is a lot stronger than last year

They didn't play all the fixtures last season, not a good standard to judge from.

Phil:
I'm always glad to clarify things for you. 👍
So now we agree.
Critch's budget wasn't bigger than Grayson's
Critch was the right appointment
I'm always right 😉.
I won't mention Gretarrson. 😃
Don't think you've proven any of the above

Anyway I'm out now

I suppose the gist of the OP was that we are about where we should be

So errr credit for that ...

When you turned back up here Phillip you were quite interesting, but things weren't going so great on the pitch, now things are you've run out of things to say, a bit one trick pony really.

Sorry you don't approve

And to think you were once in the anti Oyston gang with me as well

Wasn't many of us either 😕

This. The OP thrives on carping at others and even now he can't admit he has misjudged this badly. Watched him squirming on the podcast last week trying to find something to moan about and he is still at it. And licking Sadler's arse is a laugh when you consider how hard he argued for someone else getting the club.

Incorrect

I said it after Ipswich away during February

Before then i didn't call for him to go at all

Granted I wasn't happy with the appointment nor did i understand it given the other people we were speaking to at the time

But to suggest i asked for him to be sacked back in October is just plain wrong
You must quite like him being manager now though. Just a little bit, go on admit it.. Whisper it quietly that Critch is actually, for a kids team, rookie manager, working out OK.

It's a weak, weak league and given the squad of players the club has assembled promotion was a realistic expectation

Brilliant performance again today against what was a tough team on paper

Just goes to show how good we can look when the shackles are loosened and shows again what a fantastic job Simon Sadler has done in backing the coach with considerable investment

With so many players out injured we are now seeing the benefits of Sadler’s spending power

We really are lucky to have him

I don't think we have ever had such investment from our owner

Was told today from someone in the know that we have the 3rd highest wage budget in the league

Isn't it fabulous

Utp ..
All YES from me

Some stuff coming out on this thread. I was always VERY dubious about people (“in the know”) saying GM was on 4K/wk but Stewart on 6K?????
We’re BFC. We don’t do those things.😳🤫🥴

Thread title of "I've said all along"

Everything the OP says is a desperate attempt to try and prove what he's said is correct.

He has said just about everything except give Critch any credit (we are where expected zzzzzz) - ironic as that would be the only accurate thing he would have said.

Pep Guardiola has City top of the prem and progressing in Europe (where they would have expected to be) - does he not deserve any credit either?

Clueless OP that is giving everyone a good laugh.

Don't forget everyone here already before the cap came in, and were above the average of £1,700 per week were assumed to be on the average wage.

I would genuinely like to know how people know what the players earn. Is there a website somewhere that gives this personal information out ?

The financial investment in this squad is not the primary reason we are where we are.

We are where we are because Simon Sadler stuck by Critch during the poor run when many incl the o/p wanted him sacked .

Backing Critch when many were baying for his blood was a masterstroke by SS imo.

As was bringing in Calderwood.

It's a testament to how well drilled the players are in training that we've been able to slot different players into whatever system we're playing and still win as many games as we have.

Forget Batman and Robin, we've got Critch and Colin.

There are websites with that information and one of them was linked on here, I think, a few weeks ago. Of course only Phil will know if the information is correct. 😉
Have a search on Google and share the information if you find it. 👍

That website is utter bollox

Callum Connolly£17,000£884,00022D (C), DM, M (C)England
Charlie Mulgrew£16,000£832,00034D (C)Scotland
Barrie McKay£15,000£780,00025AM (RLC)Scotland

I think that's guesswork myself. How would 'salary sport' have that information for every club? Why?

McKay at 15 grand a week and Connolly at 17 grand. Jeez. I don’t even recognise half the names in the top 20.
