Jimmy Armfield Mural Update 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Eyes need some work, he looks like i look in the morning after 12 pints on a Friday night. Open them up a bit. Other than that its great.
 
I’m no expert, and not having seen it in the flesh as of yet, I’m only going by posted pics on here.

Aswell as the hotdog bun eyes, I’m strangely drawn to the shadow under his nose. Can’t help but think of Adolf for some bizarre reason.

I would say it’s not going to be “fixed”. The bloke who did it posted last weekend saying it was finished and he was so proud of it, so it sounds to me as if he doesn’t think it needs “Fixing” I have been patiently waiting for it to be made right but have now given up hope. I was a contributor to the appeal and am quite willing to contribute to another appeal to cover the cost of whitewashing over the whole insulting thing.
 
I think that’s a bit extreme tbh. Give it a bit of time as the guy may have other work on. And unless the cherry picker was already booked for this week, which I doubt, then that will take a little time to sort.

Saw what looked like the cherry picker used parked down stannes Road the day of the rangers game.

Though it would be straight back after the heat subsided but maybe not, but it will happen.

I wait with baited breath. I appreciate that art to one person is rubbish to another and it wouldn’t do for us all to like the same thing but, we were not td we would be getting an artist’s interpretation of the great man. Not a photograph either, just a mural that people could recognise and would be appreciated by all and not just people of an artistic bent.

They'll get him to sort it of that is have no doubt.
 
I have a good friend who is an artist he was surprised that using the scribble technique has led to something so different from the original photo.

Its probably got more to do with the weather atm I would think. The cherry picker will be a day hire so they'll want to guarantee a full day of decent conditions for it. Would have been good to have it rectified by the Reading game 👍

That's the one thing that I can't grasp in all this.... I mean I'm no artist, but common sense would suggest that you'd firstly draw the image in small scale and perfect it, t before you then transfer it onto the wall by scaling it up... It feels that in this case he's just tipped up and started producing the image on the wall and see how it goes.... That's got to make it a whole lot harder.

I am also no artist, in fact all I could draw was my wage. I just know what I like and I don't like it as it is, after looking at the photo I am sure any artist worth the name could see it wasn't right.
 
Anyone know anything about alterations being made to improve Jimmy? Or do we just concede, admit we have been sold a pup and sully our eyes with it. All been very quiet for a couple of weeks now.
 
Apparently it wasn't finished according to Armfield twitter and he would be back, this was a few weeks ago now.

It may have been better raising more money and going for the best than a caricature style?

We weren’t told it was going to be a caricature style, we were led to believe it would be a likeness, not a photographic copy, just a likeness. Instead we got the ‘artists’ version. Whatever happened to the old adage, he who pays the piper calls the tune.
