Hi all,

First up congratulations on your promotion!

Few (very small) rumours we may be after both Nuttall and Lubala on loan next season

Lubala was very good for Crawley when I saw him so surprised with that one if there is any truth in it

Both were signed for a fair fee quid and both have been extremely disappointing.

Lubala came with a decent reputation, great shot on him, quick and strong but unfortunately we didn't see that in a Blackpool shirt. The only time we saw glimpses was in the pizza cup against a weak opposition and one league game. Then he just disappeared, officially put down to a 'club matter' or something along those lines, so something has obviously gone on behind the scenes that the fans aren't aware of.

Nuttall was Simon Graysons big signing, rumoured to be circa 800k and he had been banging goals in for Blackburn's development squad. He came in at a bad time under Grayson, his tactics were negative and the team looked very disjointed. The big issue with Nuttall was his style of play when the team was struggling, he's not the sort to run around and chase defenders so it was seen as a lack of effort and he looked lazy so he didn't endear himself to the fans. His loan to Northampton was a decent opportunity for him but that didn't work, sounds like he has a few 'off field issues', reading between the lines it's to do with the lads mental health.

Personally think they could both be decent players but I doubt very much that's going to be at Blackpool.

Thanks,

A loan move for both may be good moves for them then

Surprised we have kept Feeney on btw, started slowly then hit a good patch but the last 1/3rd of the season he was awful to be honest, hitting corners and free kicks continually over everyone etc

Spearing on the other hand I criticised at the start of the season but by the end he was arguably player of the season

McDonald is an interesting one, was doing great while on loan but then lost his place with Hill indicating he was a group of players he felt were mentally weak and not up to a promotion push

Just my opinion but I think both have talent, but neither has demonstrated at Blackpool the attitude or mental strength to succeed. But they could both be good players in the right environment and under the right coaching team. Some players work at some clubs and not others, and i'd class these two as those kind of players, rather than just being bad. Particularly in league two, they could find it easier to get their confidence and belief in themselves back.

They are unlikely to get a better coaching team than ours right now. If anyone can sort young lads like them two out, it's our fella. I suspect the problems with both players are not football related. Indications are that that is the case.

Both would be more than a handful at L2 level and above if, and this is the biggie, if you can get their confidence back. Maybe a good thing for all concerned for them to go out on loan and have a chance to rebuild what were both promising careers.

Feeneys problem is that he doesn't look up before he crosses he bangs it in and hopes for the best

Gnando fortunately found a way of getting his head onto them

I believe he's now working in a circus in France as a contortionist.

Feeney’s crosses are calibrated for a fast mobile 6ft4 centre forward who is particularly good with his head. As for Lubala, after a good season with Crawley he did not show enough early season and has since become persona non grata at Blackpool for reasons we can only speculate on. Joe Nuttall if injury free and committed may yet deliver.

However Critch has already shown his opinion of JN sending him to the cobblers.

IMO he would have to have some pre season to figure in a tangerine shirt again.

It's the forwards job to read the cross and it's the winger's job to a) cross it (rough;ly into the right zone) and
b) always, get a cross in with/without looking (you dont always have that luxury of time ) or not lose possession i.e. if you cant get the cross in find your full back etc

Generally that's a winger's job

Nuttall is yet to prove himself at senior level IMO, I think a step down to League Two is the next logical choice for him and is probably around his level - as a 24 year old striker he needs a decent season under his belt to revive his career and he could do that in the fourth tier.

Lubala has already proved himself at League Two level with a great season at Crawley as recently as 19/20 with 12 goals in 34 apps, could be a decent signing if he can recapture that form.

Both players have had issues during their time at Blackpool though, Nuttall along the lines of personal issues and something has happened between Lubala and the club that has just been addressed as a "club issue". We don't know for certain what has happened with both players but if they can overcome whatever problems they've had here at Tranmere there is no reason they couldn't be decent loan signings. They have certainly not been decent signings for us considering both were signed on three year contracts (Nuttall in 2019, Lubala in 2020), and neither have made much of an impact - a combined 40 appearances over 2 seasons with 2 goals.

Exactly. Critch hasn't so far shown any confidence in their readiness for being in our squad, and we have just gone up a division too.

2 players we really could do with getting rid of as they are both on decent money. If you could take them both we would appreciate it 👍

Before these two go anywhere, they should be given plenty of game time in our pre-season friendlies to decide whether they should be part of the 1st Team squad this coming season. It may be that they surprise us. We’ve also got Bradshaw, who looked quite handy when he has been brought on. Our gaping hole at moment is at RB. Teddy Howe should also be given the same chance. Why spend money if we don’t need to ?
