you have so missed the point. Best movie I have seen for several years, Phoenixis extraordinary as the mentally ill lead and if he doesn’t get the Oscar tonight there’s no justice.

A harrowing movie, wonderfully written and beautifully filmed, there is no hope for you if you weren’t captivated by this movie. Mind you, as you like some right awful stuff I’m not surprised you didn’t like it.

Can't say I've seen it myself Blood but all those I've spoken to that have are more with Herts than your goodself. Must be more than 20 years since I have been to the pictures but every fecker is telling me to go and see The Joker, 1917 and Jojo Rabbit or whatever it's called. I quite fancied going to see Gentleman but never got round to it, has anybody seen it ?

Herts, I haven’t missed any point. You think I didn’t realise he was mad? I thought it was poor but bow down to the Barry Norman of AVFTT

I would never use the Oscar's as a gauge for a good film but in Joker, Phoenix was exceptional, in my view. I enjoyed the film and anyone who gets even close to Heath Ledgers portrayal is doing well.

Barry Norman is dead so an appalling reference there Blood, given his many hundreds of fans on here will still be grieving. Personally I havent recovered from hearing that Reginald Bosanquet had passed away and havent been able to watch News at Ten since.

Standard Blood, the majority like something, you hate it. Like this forum I bet ;)
Kurtis I am merely giving my honest appraisal. The Film amounted to nothing imho. Phoenix’s acting in it was good but I am talking about plot, story, purpose, engagement, point. He is a disturbed adult because he got abused as a kid and suffered brain damage due to his Mother’s negligence and bad partner choice. He somehow gets a gig at a decent sized comedy club?.....but he wouldn’t because he can’t tell a bad joke without laughing for 10 mins due to a psychological condition. Then unbelievably that gig is filmed and afterwards ridiculed by a chat show host who then unbelievably invites Joker onto a live show despite him clearly being massively disturbed. He admits on stage during the interview killing three yuppies BUT the chat show host (De Niro) does nothing, despite believing him, but lecture him on live tv about about how killing three people was a bad thing and Joker then shoots him in the head. Subsequently in the mental hospital despite him being a multiple killer his old counsellor sees him in a room completely alone and he murders her and dances off down the unsupervised corridor with her blood prints being left by his boots. He also killed his Mum along the way.
Very contrived and unbelievable and in my opinion has no message, particular storyline or point apart from a madman basically acts like a madman falling further into madness but is facilitated in carrying out further murders by an unbelievable storyline sequence

Cheers, Blood I wasn't sure about watching it. Don't think I'll bother now

BUT....that is at the heart of the movie.....Was that real?...Did it really happen....Is that all from the Jokers madness?
Did he really buy the gun off the other clown?
Did he really kill those men on the train?
Did he really appear on the TV in the way he wanted?.....every scene was inter cut with reality V fantasy.
If you follow the comics, Bruce Wyane, ultimately becomes Batman because his parents were killed by Joe Chill...and this is shown in the movie.
Joker again ends up in Arkham Asylum...or was he already there....?

The movie is great considering all the other DC movies are just popcorn for kids
This was a great bit of acting by Pheonix who well deserved all the awards he got..and Todd Phillips has just banked $100m

I didn’t think it was good at all BUT it’s just an opinion. A lot seem to like it so that’s fine. I suppose I am just more of an expert Film critic rather than just a consumer of Movies
