Jose Mourinho

£82.5 million as it stands apparently all due to being sacked! Bit ridiculous really, he’s also signed up to The Times to cover the Euros, keep his bank balance topped up I suppose.

Agreed a brilliant CV. Always lands on his feet that bloke! A pale shadow of the manager he was when he first graced the Premiership back in 2005, but fair play to him if he’s still getting decent jobs.

Also joined Talksport as a pundit. Should be more entertaining than his style of play 😀

A bit like his selection by Spurs... a “big” club in the country’s capital that has underachieved and won nothing for decades and been outshone by a number of their northern competitors. In fact, so desperate to turn it around they have bought into the fading Mourinho myth.

The problem is that Roma were bought last year by The Friedkin Group, an American car distributor. While they spent $600 million buying the club can they compete financially with the clubs in Europe owned by petrodollar states? Mourinho is going to want a huge transfer budget. But where will he find the next Drogba?

Can’t blame him for taking the job, but Roma what are you doing😂, he is past his best and cannot adapt to a new modern style of attacking football. But hey another sacking within 2 seasons, and another pay off.

Since his first successful couple of years at Chelsea and since 2005 Mourinho has won still won 4 domestic league titles in Italy, Spain and England, 9 domestic cups in Italy, Spain and England, 1 further Champions League, 1 Europa League. So hardly a pale shadow and an impressive CV in different countries. . It is only in the last 2 years at Spurs he has not won anything, but Spurs haven't won anything for well over 30 years and have been unresourced compared with others.

Some job this managing gig, he's collected millions from pay offs at Man U and Spurs and gets a call to the Eternal City for another huge contract in a beautiful part of the world.

He doesn't need to work another day in his life as he's banked a fortune already.

Reminds me a bit of Sven Goran Erikkson, another chancer who made millions by failing time after time, albeit Jose had success previously but seems to have lost the plot recently.

Amazing.

Fully agree RB, he’s definitely lost his touch in the modern game and raking a fortune in being a failure.

Meant in the Premiership mate. He was undoubtedly ‘The’ manager when he first arrived. Would have expected a manager of his calibre to have given Pep & Klopp ‘a run for their money’ in the Premiership whatever team he was managing, but that hasn’t been the case. I take your point about Spurs but I’m pretty sure resources wouldn’t have been a problem over at Old Trafford.

A great CV, a plethora of trophies, but ‘yesterday’s man’ for me.

Yes, football management seems the only job in the world that rewards failure.

How many of us on here would even get an interview for a new job if our previous two employers had sacked us for our poor performance? Not to mention having to shell out millions in compensation.

What about compensation for the club and it's fans who's having to deal with your poor performance.

Unbelievable Jeff 😳

He was a dreadful appointment at Spurs, totally alien to the clubs ethos. Levy you total dipstick.
Levy strikes me as a smiling assassin. Potch had achieved so much on a limited budget due to the ground rebuild. A few spoilt brat players started winging and he got thrown under the bus.

I always think Jose is at the wrong clubs. The way he works (create siege mentality, control team with strict orders, defensive, hit on break) seems ideal for a midranking/lower club but he's always trying it at the top teams

I think it would be really interesting to see how he did at say, Southampton or someone, where the players would perhaps be better suited to a dictator moulding them.
