Just a colourful thought.

The reporter on the BBC who accused the Lionesses of being too white, not reflecting the cultural mix of todays society should have been at Bloomfield Road yesterday to see Reading, A Black manager with 9 of his 11 players of the same colour.

Just an observation, they are obviously the best players in their positions, as are the white girls in the Lionesses, and good luck to them.

I’m amazed that people notice these things if I’m being totally honest. First game of the season, we’ve got a load of new signings on display and you’re counting how many black players the opponents have?

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but find that a bit odd.
If the media didn’t keep ramming it down peoples throat then the observations wouldn’t be made. Stop making literally everything about the colour of someone’s skin. The media have a lot to answer for.

I can’t say I’ve ever felt like anything was being ‘rammed down my throat’ tbh, but then I don’t pay much heed to the media.

I take it you spent your afternoon counting blank people too.

Apologies if my post offended all the black people counters 👍

I also noticed as I kept getting some of their players mixed up

It's just an observation no need to go all wokey on it

Why would I have done that ?

Weird comment to make, I was mainly just watching the game...

Curryman do you happen to have a St Georges flat outside your house?

I genuinely never notice what colour football players are, I'm usually too busy shitting myself whenever the opposition cross the halfway line to think about it. Not to say it isn't an interesting point, but I think too much is made of things like this. The clubs/managers are just picking the best players for the job. If they happen to be the same colour then so be it.

Having said that, I think the Reading boss would secretly like to have 11 on the pitch all called Tom.

The op has a point, the BBC and alike are happy to call out stuff that suits their divisive agenda, but when say an athletics team is all black there's no reports with sad music asking where the white representation is, which the majority in the country are.

End of the day the best people get picked for whatever, it's that simple.

i think the biggest colour issue with reading is the stupid red numbers on the kit couldnt make them out most the time bet its a commentators night mare need a white panel on back of shirt

I knew that would bring all the wokes out of hiding.

As a matter of interest I hadn't noticed it until someone near me mentioned it.

Yes I have a Union flag and a St Georges flag plus a red ensign flag that was my step father's, being an ex naval man. Sorry if that doesn't suit the agenda of some on here. Tough.

‘Aye lad, it were a reet funny do, I can tell thee.... I were just sat in’t stands countin' up t' black fellas, like ya do, when I ‘append to notice t'other team 'ad nine black fellas and a black manager…. Well I thewt to me sen, I’d best mention it to Wilf at 'arf time and see what he thinks oft' situation...."

His post was in response to what the BBC reporter said. If people want to make an issue with race issues what’s wrong with pointing out the other side of the argument?

I think countries should have to pick their teams based on the percentages of ethnicities living within them. Otherwise any team will be unrepresentative of the entire country. It shouldn't be about ability. It should all be based on skin colour.

So because a BBC reporter had said something about the lack of diversity in the England Women's Team... He decided to start counting Black People at football games.... ?

I'm not complaining.... If that's what people want to do with their time, then count away 👍

I just find it a bit strange.

I mean it's not exactly took up his whole day has it. How long does it take to make that observation? Less that 20 seconds. He's not exactly basing his entire life on the matter.

Fair point... And if he gets bored, he could always do a bit of Gay Spotting to keep him going for the remainder of the game 👍

Thought it was a classic race card remark. Stupid divisive and clearly unconscious bias.Absolutely no need for the statement.

The issue is about race is it not? I think, if one were inclined to go "gay spotting" as you call it, then they would count more within our own ranks than in many others, with a grand total of 1.

Also, I don't think he was bored, he was just bothered by the anti white agenda proposed by the BBC, and that if something is majority white then it must be racist by default.

I think Reading are not a national team, so don't think they are great for this particular argument, but I do however see the point/frustration they were trying to indicate.

It’s ridiculous, if there were better black and Asian women players, they’d be in the team.

This is actually a major problem in women's football.

Up to very recently, a lot of women's academies were put alongside the men's academies and they were always in leafy suburbias in the middle of nowhere.

A lot of people from deprived backgrounds didn't have the access or money to travel to these places to train on a regular basis which caused people to quit.

It is changing now, however, it will take time for more diversity to filter through the system.

Yet, it's actually a very valid point about the women's game though... Because it does, absolutely lack diversity (the same as certain other sports). So it is important that the sport does more to ensure that it becomes accessible to everyone so that we do genuinely end up with the best available players representing our national team, rather than those who can afford to participate.

Interesting! Potentially explains the lack of Asian representation in the men's game as well at a national level? I always wondered why when we clearly have a large asian/Asian background population living here.

Very good, couldn't agree more. Same with the men's game and why there's barely any Asian background representatives for our country. Noone ever seems arsed about that though? Just an observation.

If Reading had 11 white players he wouldn't have made the statement.

He made a similar post a few weeks ago about the number of asians eating in hospital A&E.

Did anyone see Ian Wright talking about girls not being given the chance to play football at school ? There was a response online where a parent said the boys played football in P.E whilst the girls did dance 😔

Not sure what this has to do with the nobbers......

Yet that is mentioned frequently in the media.... There have even been documentary's dedicated to the subject?

yes , but you're a genuine bigot, so you're bound to think that way.... I'm on about normal people like me
Sorry I clicked like your post in error.

You`re a sad bitter vindictive man full of constantly expressed often personal prejudices as well as being incredibly self opinionated. So as with ignorance your posts are best ignored by the less prejudiced and more balanced , decent posters such as Curryman and many others on here.

Has there? Sorry I've got better things to do with my time than "documentary spotting" that you seem so excited by 🤣
I don't do "documentary spotting"

I just happen to have watched a documentary...

You really need to get some better banter sorted out...

Maybe if I'd said something like... "I was searching the internet to buy a set of hedge trimmers last Friday and I ended up counting 16 different documentaries on the Asian Footballer shortages" That might have been funny.

There is a good documentary out there on the future of women's football.

It goes through the issues of deprivation and lack of access for footballers which is linked to having less ethnic diversity in the England squad.

So you do think it’s odd that people should be counting black players at games and then using it to make a point on the internet?
I think people are notic8ng things like this because of the media and the Lefts obsession with skin colour, and if you bothered to read my post you would see that’s what I was saying, but because you want an argument you have decided to try and twist it. Are you Mex in disguise.
