Just a little perspective

After 30 years of The O’s when the majority on avftt joined the Oyston out party far too late, defending them stating they were our saviours and nobody else out there to invest in the club, I find it incredulous that after such a short period of Saddlers tenure in which he has invested millions of his own money that so so many fookin negative posts when we have only lost one of the last 9 games.

I find it incredulous that after the 30 years of anti football measures from the Oystons, our fans are now happy to take mediocrity just because we are Oyston free

I do agree with your first point, far too many folk on avftt defended the Oystons and their lack of spending for years

Maybe because even after this many games, the manager makes such obvious and easy mistakes.

Our team is being carried on individuals, not on formation tactics or the manager.

Performances have been pants all season. Attacking football, give over.

The 433 obsession, the tinkerman stuff, and now the 1-0 shut up shop Grayson imitation act. Not what we were promised

So many elementary errors from the manager, who appears to have been wetter behind the ears than anyone could have predicted

Spent a fortune, mainly on duplicate players.

Having both Dougall and Stewart, with one of them getting splinters, yet only 3 strikers and no effective playmaker looks a bit silly. Ok, you can only sign what's available, but I'd like to know how hard we were looking. Virtue is really not the guy.

Yes, we probably will get better, with a refresh in the summer. And a settled pre-season etc

But with this budget and squad a more experienced and pragmatic manager could and would, I suspect, have achieved a lot more

Hazi I`m sorry to say it but you need to take your tangerine tinted specs off occasionally before you post. All your posts are similar, whilst I acknowledge there are positives, never recognizing the shortcomings that need to be rectified if we are ever to fulfill our owner`s ambitions won`t get us there.

A balanced approach combining critical analysis with intelligent not unquestioning support, is what we need to get where we want to get to.

50’s my thoughts are that if the powers that be are trying there best which I think Saddler most certainly is then we can’t ask anymore and we should all get on point and join his vision for a bright tangerine future. Especially after a season such as this one. We are still in the hunt for the play offs let’s wait till season end and tot up where we are at then.

Alf, taking snippets of history and comparing it to now is quite nice but.....
That was then this is now, it doesn't matter what went on in 2007 its totally irrelevant as you're only looking at points per game.
What were the other teams like in 2007?
What teams are going to shed the points for Blackpool to get into the playoffs this season?

I'd love Blackpool to get into the playoffs as much as the next person, unfortunately even after giving them all the support on here after the shite start to the season I just think they'll be too inconsistent.

Sorry it took so long to reply - to answer your first question:

Or I was right all along, the tangerine specs are glistening

How can I be bored with idiots like you to educate.
You really have educated me over the course of the season, constantly reminding me to always stay positive and back the process that the club embarks on, rather than kicking my toys out the pram every time we didn’t pick up 3 points.

I think you're beyond educating.

You may be and just now no doubt you are polishing them vigorously but we`re not promoted yet and either way ,well as we have so far done there are always improvements to be made if we want to continue to progress which won`t be made if we just ignore any shortcomings and look the other way.

Statistics can lie. Going nowhere fast with Critchley, finally more people seem to be waking up to this fact. Massive backing and wage bill and underperforming massively. All comes from the top and he’s not got it unfortunately.
Lol. This is exactly the sort of comment I would expect from you along with the Yates isn’t good enough stuff.
Backed up by 62 and surprisingly Phil who I thought had better judgement?
It was only 8 weeks ago too

....and you're as surprised as everybody else that we're 3rd after 45 games. Come on admit it.

I put my bet on the team for promotion at the start of the season. Thought it would be via the playoffs rather than automatic.
It was the pre season friendlies that made me believe - ironically we then went on a horrific run but I saw enough promise to put my money where my mouth is.

3rd or 6th I always thought we were definitely play off material which is why I’ve been one of the few cheerleaders on here from the start. It’s the feeling I had that Olly season. I didn’t have it when Grayson took us up and was amazed when the perfect 10 came together.

Even if we now blow the play offs I’ll be gutted but confident for next season It just feels like the club is getting everything right.

Exactly the reason for my cheerleading, no matter how you looked at it from pre season up to now the one logical conclusion you come to with this club and this team is that it’s constantly getting better and still nowhere near its potential. I also said once it does all click together we won’t look back because the foundations are being lovingly laid at all levels of the club’s infrastructure. Using the same logic I would say we have to be favourites in the playoffs, we’ve got a sweet spot between on-field momentum and off-field development at the perfect time. Using my heart though, I’d have to say just let me know when it’s over and I’ll maybe come out from behind the couch!!

I suspect 90% of Pool fans are surprised we've reached the play offs. With most of you it was in hope rather than expectation. Still a bit to do to go all the way...but I hope we do it.
Once again you suspected wrong. Most of the people I speak to away from here have recognised that we were a force to be reckoned with, and with a raft of games in hand we could easily make the playoffs. Maybe not 3rd but certainly top 6.

Me too. Outright bets with top 3 each way. Hopefully get a decent payout on Sunday if we put a full side out.

Cracking post

I don't think anyone on here has an issue with people being critical of the team or Critchley (hell I wanted Critchley out after Wimbledon but was happy to be proven wrong!), but the issue I have is with reactionaries on here who go into meltdown every time we don't win.

Its immature, toxic and destroys thoughtful discourse.

People were valid to be in meltdown at the beginning of the year, but by March after everything the team and Critchley did to pull us from the bottom half, nobody should have been saying we were "going nowhere fast with Critchley".

What is it with people? It must be a British trait to kick people when they’re down. I’ve been keeping a low profile for a few weeks, kept off the match day thread and people keep digging up old posts to make me out to be some sort of idiot.

Don't take any notice.
