According to Sky about an hour ago, rates are not dropping according to ONS, they are
Increasing - it’s only reported cases dropping.

Hospital cases do not report those who are in hospital because of Covid. They cover those in hospital who have Covid but about a quarter are in there because of something else. A subtle but important distinction. Of 5021 patients done 3855 were ‘primarily Covid’ : source Dept of Health

This is the latest version of the ONS Covid infection survey, released today, if Sky is reporting on anything else I'd be very surprised, and it clearly states w/e 24/07.

TBF all broadcasters are terrible at explaining what the various statistics mean, which I think is inexcusable.

In fairness I am more interested in hospital admissions than case count now.

Hospital admissions lag cases by a week to 10 days and give us an early warning of case numbers in future.

That said Blackpool is still very high

I half expect it to go up again however with the kids off school hopefully it will be manageable

Also I have to say productivity is horribly down as many people seem incapable of working at home and not being totally distracted.
I’d say it’s an actual skill now - ability to work from home and actually put a real days work in?

I couldn’t do it, I know I couldn’t and to be honest I really wouldn’t want to either.
