Quite enjoyed that for a friendly, it didn't seem like one at times

Few minor moans

Why didn't the club tell people you could pay on the day?

Bizarre that there was a bar that nobody working in the North knew about, my 14 year old found it

Linesman awful their 2nd goal was at least 10 yards off side

We desperately need two full backs and we need to play a more mobile striker if we play the pressing game

Bowler is by far our best player and if any fans want him sold then they really should watch a different sport

Oh and I didn't see anybody in the Armfield giving Grimmy shit, that surprised me given how much grief he's had on social media this week

Can I add to the minor moans, why only three staff in the first bar in the concourse at half time ? Usually more to make the queue go quicker

Plus the Print At Home tickets never work properly for me, why can’t the ticket be downloaded to the new app and just scanned that way ?

Third world problems I know but little things all add up…

Phil - do you mean Rhys Williams as opposed to Grimmy? Or did I miss him being given grief?

The print at home never works for us and we're expecting the same on Saturday 😟

I liked that midfield. Needs a couple of tweaks and a better central striker to play off but there’s forward thinking players in there which made a refreshing change.

Yeah Carey and the new bloke are both decent on the ball, not sure on Virtue as the holder in that 3 though got passed around at times

Also need something else on the left as I'm really not sure where Keshi should play or what he does when playing wide

Yeh Virtue isn’t brave enough on the ball. Imagine a fully fit Kevin Stewart in there. We can only dream. But then I’m thinking we need some physicality in there too.

That left side is an issue. It needs to be decent too because teams will just try and shut our right side down and not worry much about our left.

Keshi has been here 2 years and I still don't know what his best position is 🤷🏽‍♂️

Think drinking on the concourse and print at home tickets are first world problems really. Developing countries have somewhat more challenging issues.
 
Wasn't going to go today until I saw a post on here saying there's a POTG turnstile, so thanks AVFTT

Agree about Bowler, when we finally managed to get the ball to him in attacking positions, he made things happen, and against a PL full back.

I really hope we don't rely on him tracking back though, he's simply not very good at it. Before their goal, he allowed their forward to get goal side (too easily) from long ball, but his shot was tame and straight at Grimmy. I share the concerns of most that we're vulnerable in both FB positions. I was worried about RB cover but the majority of problems in the first half came from our left. We desperately need cover at RB/LB, but that's hardly breaking news is it. Love Connolly but not at RB, caught out by the ball over the top a few times. Perhaps give Moore a chance at RB, thought he did OK when he came on.

I really liked Jerry's movement and close ball control in their box. Should be a starter for me, but if he's on his own, he needs to have the attacking mf closer as a few have said already.

I'm a ST in the South, I've not been in the North for years. I'd forgotten how small the concourse is.
 
Entertaining 2nd half which makes me think we might have a chance of having an OK season.
Need two good full backs, at least one forward who can play wide in a front 3 and one forward who can play in the middle of a front 3.
Not worried about central midfield.
Feel a bit better after seeing that today.

I’m now wondering if we can leave Bowler forward in a David Ginola style and push Virtue into the AM role (well more a 1-1-1 in midfield) with the added responsibility to cover Bowlers defensive duty?

Bowler is then the outlet for counter attacks as we keep his presence forward.

Infact need to keep all our better players

Grimshaw, Marv, Yates etc

Definitely need a left back, Garbutt is going backwards and maybe one attacking wide forward

Having watched the 2nd half of preston yesterday I think we are in better place than them.
Put Gabriel, Ekpiteta and a good left back in that team today and I think we would have got at least a draw.
2 or 3 million spent well gives us a good chance of top 6, down to Mansford and Sadler now pal.

Problem being I just don't think there is an appetite to spend money like that
 
I'd play anyone other than Garbutt at left back after that performance, defensively inept, all the goals from his side. Don't get me started on this wand of a left foot myth...yes I know we scored from his corner, once in 1,0000 attempts isn't the stuff of magicians.

Thorniley has played left back for Sheff Wed. He doesn't feel like a full back to me but...

There's no chance of top 6 whoever we buy. Need a lot more substantial building to get near that level.

I was also thinking something similar. We need to play to Bowlers strengths otherwise we are left exposed. What I like about Virtue further forward is that he can strike a ball from outside the box, I feel that we are desperate for shooting accuracy/aggression this season.

Probably missed the presence of Marv today too?

It's not where I think we should be but if we kept our best players and spent 3 million wisely it is where we could be if Appleton can do a good job.

Mate, I respect what you're saying but apart from the three relegated teams there are another six at least that are a lot more than £3m ahead of us. We can scrape into the top half if we spend that kind of money, otherwise Appleton will need to be a great coach to get us into the top 10

Glad you've mentioned Keshi. Ever since he arrived I've always thought him too casual in possession and careless in his passing. Don't get the hype from some who see him as essential.

He worked beautifully for 3 or 4 months in that left sided slot when we first went up - He really was very good in that spell.
