Just for balance.

Tony ** Blair..Jeez you really have reach rock bottom.
The guy who took us to war on the basis of exactly what and is still earning a fortune along with his lovely wife( sic) from doing what....perhaps you can give us a good reason for him and his cronies deserving of merit.

🙄 The article is by Jonathan Powell

He spent 16 years working for ... the Conservative Government before joining Blair

No response to the truth of the argument then. Just criticism despite his success in Northern Ireland. Compare that to the current shambles.
Blair should be in jail for war crimes-I have lost count of how many times I have said that on here.

Well at least it takes the pressure off Boris I suppose. 😮

So what.....perhaps you would enlighten me as to what he and his wife have actually done to deserve any respect for their views since leaving office other than making a fortune telling everyone how wonderful they were.
As for the article I always love the fact that those outside of the negotiations know better...bit like football fans thinking they know how best to pick a team especially after a loss.

Because it's not anything to do with Tony Blair?

His success in granting Ira murdering scum free pardon's but ensuring British soldiers are investigated for doing their duty.

The first two points pre-date the Johnson Government.
The third point "Sovereignty is a nebulous concept" simply outlines how he doesn't understand Brexit and helps frame the whole article.
The fourth seems factually incorrect to me and the fifth is simply an opinion and not one probably shared with the current crop in Whitehall.

It's the all-too-familiar bitter and twisted assessment of an arch-Remainer whose previous Brexit classics include articles with impartial headlines such as "It’s not too late to negotiate a way out of this disaster."

flip.it..politico.uk.Eu.....
wonder If they have a pro EU preference.
For the record I voted without any real conviction(maybe I just liked the status quo) to remain but I will be celebrating us leaving the EU tomorrow night as when I originally voted to become a member ( and yes I did) it was for a common market not a pan European political super state run by unelected officials.
Have we got a good trade deal or not, only time will tell but please don’t expect me to believe Jonathan Powell would have done any better.

Presumably you would rather bombings were still a regular occurrence?
So you think prosecuting British soldiers and letting murdering scum off is worth it. My brother lives in Northern Ireland and he tells me there are still no go areas for forces of the crown. Its a case of leave us alone and we won't cause you any problems.

You moron, read the article, what has Blair got to do with it?
By the way I was highly critical of Blair back in the day, but crikey he was on a different level of competency compared to the current intellectual pygmies running the show.

We were always a sovereign nation, it's embarrassing the emphasis put on this issue. The 4th point is valid. We reneged on many things, we threatened to tear up elements of the WA and have subsequently put a border between NI and the mainland which was an alleged no no. Point 5 you think we had a strategy? What was that? Threatening we'll go WTO and have the decreasing sized navy patrol our waters.......
The EU have wiped the floor with us. Our hand wasn't the running flush that some claimed and when will the German car makers come to our rescue?

So what(?). Well I think Jeremy Brett was an excellent Sherlock Holmes. That's nothing to do with the OP either but hey, so what?
