Keir Starmer fully confident re Rayner

Hmmm...........

A post of mine has disappeared, where I alluded to what I think Ms Rayner might be guilty of, I can't think what rule that could possibly have breached, I wonder why.

Not a problem, this isn't the only site I post on

Repost it. Unless it incriminates Avftt why should it be deleted? The mod should explain to you why too.

Any MP, of any political persuasion, who fiddles the state for any amount, should be gone. I’d lose my job for less I’m sure, so yeah.
These people are supposed to support the public and those in need.
Not rob from them.

No excuses.
In principle, yes. In this instance, wait until the investigation has finished.

I don’t blame them. If you posted something contentious about your view on “crimes” that might prove libellous then the website publisher of AVFTT would be in the firing line as well.

It's a possibility. Guido Fawkes, who Lost follows religiously, has moved to Eire to avoid UK libel laws. A number of people have run into trouble through re-tweeting or repeating libellous posts by him.

Forum won't let me post photos, but here's a linky that shows the after result: https://order-order.com/2024/04/18/rayner-claims-kitchen-renovation-offset-all-of-her-tax-liability/

We don't know what the state was before, but I reckon there's about £1,500 (2010 prices) of materials in there, so hard to argue that it's an improvement, and even if it was, it isn't going to extinguish the CGT liability.

Labour (work, not party) might add to the cost, but I could've probably done that by myself in a couple of days, so not a huge amount, her brother apparently is good at DIY, so my guess is he was involved, and it looks like a good DIY job rather than anything else.

Note also that the hob/oven is freestanding, so won't count against CGT, the same applies to all the other white goods, so all that might qualify is the worktop, wall/base units, sink and possibly tiling.

It's noticeable that all the "leftists" can do on this thread is throw around insults and slurs, if there was nothing in this story then surely even they could do so much better.

This is not going away.
It's not going away because its literally the only thing the Tory party have.

It's not like they can fight an election on their record over the last decade.

It's not like they have a squeaky clean set of MPs themselves.

No, clutching at straws over a story 15 years old.

Nothing in the post could've been construed as libellous, certainly compared to the tidal wave of posts accusing ministers and others of embezzlement over Covid.

I hate to break it to you, but moving to Ireland doesn't allow him to avoid UK libel laws, and even if it did, the Irish have libel laws as well.

His blog is made via a Nevis based firm purely to make it difficult to initiate libel proceedings against him.

I hate to break it to you, but under UK libel law, everybody in the chain is equally and severally liable for the libel, from the author, to the publisher, to the distributor, even down to the corner shop you buy the newspaper from.

It is published as an anonymous blog by a company based in Nevis. All designed to avoid libel action in UK courts. Even Michael Staines admits it is based there 'as a litigation shield'.

As far as I am aware blogs don't have distributors or are for sale at corner shops.

Well it's not going to work, because the author is personally liable for what he writes, and presumably the editor too.

I saw it referenced that AR may have committed benefit fraud?

Tax Credits and other benefits are calculated on household income so if back in 2010 as a ‘single mother’ she claimed benefits as if living alone, whilst at the same time having a full-time live-in partner whose income should've been included in the benefit calculation, then is where all the fuss is directed.
