Kenny Dougall

Superb for us, he'll feel a bit gutted. I've felt like he's got back to himself over the last few games too.

Forget the Fulham game, Bristol City is the most important and that is the one he would return shattered for. No good being selected and sitting on the bench when it involves travelling halfway around the world.

never even gave him a sniff. had him flying all the way to the middle east and left him on the bench every time. The one time he did get on the pitch I think against China Aussie comms were praising him.

You mean coming up against
Championship players not Lge 1?

People don't half post some garbage he is still our best midfielder by a long way and has had some real

Yes, that’s exactly what I mean, he’s an excellent League1 midfielder, but a lower end Championship midfielder and his technical deficiencies are shown up at this level.

I appreciate that for some people certain players have this weird immunity to criticism but the fact is if we want to progress again players like KD will have to become squad players rather than guaranteed starters.

Which games has he been poor?

It’s a game of opinions fellas…….to my mind he’s been below the levels he set last year…….partly due to the extra technical ability needed to step up, partly probably down to international duty and probably partly down to having to play every game due to injuries to others in his position.

I’m not saying at his best he isn’t an asset, but I feel if Brannagan signs and Kevin Stewart can get fit then he’d be further down the pecking order than people think

He plays the holding midfielder role what do you expect, to get the time he had in Lge 1 on the ball when often outnumbered it ain't happening.

There is a case for a more attack minded player alongside him but Kenny isn't that person same as when Spearing was getting pelters it's not the role of the deep midfielder.

We play our LB/RB high up the pitch and in a 4-4-2 someone has to sit KD does that so along with Marv and Grim it would be the last position I'd be wanting to improve yet.

I guess that's the same way I appreciate some fans have this weird sense of thinking they know what they're talking about.

I like Kenny (VOY behave!!) he does the holding midfield role well, but I still think we are too defensive if we play 2 defensive midfield players, I would prefer one and one who pushes forward and drives the attacks and adds some creativity, such as Carey did just before he was injured. So if we only played one holding midfielder and Stewart was fit and we still had Wintle, I would play Stewart every time and I would probably be undecided who to play out of Wintle or Dougall. But then we don't have Wintle and Stewart gets injured if someone just says "injury" so it's a bloody good job we have him because he never lets us down and with the amount of football he plays he is bound to have the odd average game, but they are rare.

I said earlier tonight that I despair when I hear people espousing the merits of infant democracy and everyone getting an ‘equal’ vote. Bit like being judged by 12 of your ‘peers’. Really? Have you seen the state of most out there?
This thread makes me feel even more justified in my beliefs. Others would call them opinions 🙄

I agree, I'm glad we've got him but if, and it's a big if, we had Stewart fit, had either Branagan or Wintle, or even Carey then he is more likely to be on the bench. Get Ward and Virtue back to full fitness and we would have a plethora of choice. As it stands it's a bloody good job we do have him.

I agree with Herts about a more attacking mid.

Do we use a second DM but try to get them into a more forward role in possession, or a more attacking Cm and ask them to take on more defensive duties out of possession.

We've played two defensive CM all year, until Huddersfield. Sonny Carey had a great game and showed it can work. Is there anyone else who can do it at the moment? With Keshi gone too, no.

Kenny said after the brace at Wembley he would like to play further forward. Not saying he's a playmaker, but can he drive on and get some shots away?

What fookin game are some of you watching. Not the same one I am thats for sure. He's not there to do the spectacular he's there to do the solid dependable stuff which he does very well week after week.
I agree you can't have 11 superstars but what does he actually do apart from a few side ways passes? League one Gareth Barry.
