Kirk signing?

On the Nixon tweet, Reading are AFAIK still under a transfer embargo and are limited to loans and frees, so I can't see how they might be in for him.

On the player himself, he was supposedly carrying an injury during his time here, that might well have put the club off signing him permanently.

I actually rated Kirk. He was tireless, chased down plenty of lost causes, had a great cross on him and was good from set pieces. Didn’t see him attempt to beat his man on many occasions but I’m not sure that was his instruction - Bowler was the man we looked to in order to drive forward with the ball. Kirk does obviously have it in his locker and proved as much at Crewe. Could be very useful when playing alongside a LWB who likes to get VERY high up the pitch which Thompson clearly does.
Agree

You would think not, but presumably the same recruitment team brought him in in the first place.

Having said that, the team shape is now different, so maybe he won't suit.
Exactly, I wasn't keen on him anyway, but he would probably fit better in the 442. Maybe could play more central in the 433?

Loan?

Seems highly unlikely he'll come back here, to me. We've had a change of manager, and it would've happened by now.

I think Charlton would be looking for a permanent move, they might be persuaded by a loan to buy type deal however Reading are AFAIK embargoed until at least next summer and possible beyond, and I don't think Charlton will be willing to wait that long, especially given the doubt about Reading's league position.

Maybe BFC could tempt them with a repeat of last season's arrangement, a loan until January with a £500,000 option, perhaps if he's over whatever injury issue he was carrying last season he might show the club enough to justify the fee, maybe Charlton could be persuaded to go down that route.

I suspect it'll depend upon other moves.
