Lancashire Lockdown from Saturday?

I think it’s highly unlikely an edict from central government can be overridden a unitary authority.

It’s purely a commercial decision which must have been sanctioned by Bozzo and the rest of his clowns!

Ribble valley have the lowest Covid levels, by a street, yet they're included in the lock down.

Strange times?
They will have not realised we are not part of Lancashire, I’m sure it’ll change before Tuesday.

Well I’m confused, so I can’t meet with my mates in a pub in Cleveleys, but I can in Blackpool. I can drink until 10 in Cleveleys and nip down to Blackpool to continue drinking. If I’m from Bolton, I can spend the day in Blackpool with my family and friends, but not in Bolton. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Have you seen who allegedly is running the country?

Welcome to Blackpool, lockdown free, if you live in an area with restrictions, whether 2 miles away or 50 miles away, you can come, enjoy yourself and spread the virus without fear of prosecution.

The only advantages for people visiting Blackpool is -
1. They can visit relative's or friend's houses, that's if they have any here.
2. The bars can stay open later (which they probably do anyway compared to other places)
Apart from that, it's the same rules that cover the rest of the country, unless you're in an area that has restrictions (like Fylde and Wyre).
So basically the whole of England has the same rules. But areas which are subject to tighter restrictions, those restrictions are over and above the national rules.
That's how I've read it anyway. But I'm quite happy for somebody to correct me if I've got it wrong?
If you go on the You Gov website, it's quite simple to understand.

😂🤣.

Methinks you laugh to much.
In terms of democratic control, Blackpool, as a unitary authority decided not to join the lockdown.
But, in terms of realpolitik, do you honestly think that Johnson was going let the Sun, Star and Mirror plaster headlines about "Boris turning off the Illuminations!" across the front pages?

Never any need to switch them off. They could have been streamed charging 1p for access, which is 1p more than the average illu. visitor spends.

Me thinks you may think to much 1966?

I honestly dunno if that was the reason & neither does anybody else on this forum.

What i do know is If the opposition party had done exactly the same thing certain folk on here who may now be slagging the Gov would likely praise them for supporting our hard hit seaside economy.
Say it shows they care about the north, the risk is minimal outdoors in the sea air & what a well though out proactive decision they have made🤣.

I am in now way suggesting you would think or say that btw.

🤣
Possibly but i also try to cut straight through this forums often overtly Politicised taking a side bullshit.
Many seem to struggle to grasp this simple concept as they are so strongly for or against Labour or Tory .

Are you suggesting i am wrong?
Does my point lack validity? 🧐

Are you saying this decision was purely made by Blackpool Council?

When anyone introduces politicians, they introduce politics. Politicians never stop being political. As Giro hints at above, these decisions will always be political.

No I am saying powers that be liased with Blackpool Council & a consensus said We really dont want to shut down the town.
Are you saying Blackpool Council said we want to fall in with the rest of Lancashire & must shutdown.
The Tory Government have refused point blank & said NO YOU MUST KEEP THE TACKY NORTHERN SEASIDE RESORT OPEN!! 🤣

It would be exactly the same under a Labour Government in the current circumstances.
Unfortunately some refuse to see the wood for the trees.

See my reply to Giro. It would be the 'same result' under a Labour Gov.
If the Council want to shutdown believe me they have more than enough sway to do so.

That’s one very dangerous liaison!

Pretty much all of the North of England in some kind of restrictions apart form Blackpool and the Lake District. The 2 places that attract the most tourists Who will spend some money.

Funny that isn’t it.

It all feels like some great Cummings evil genius masterplan to wipe out the northern working classes. His thinking being... who else would travel to Blackpool to enjoy themselves? Let them all mix and spread the CV efficiently and take it back to their cities.

Then the Suvveners can continue to enjoy all the wealth generated by their City of Laandan financial services without having to spend any of it supporting us Norvven Munnkees. Well, at least not the non-productive ones. I feel that a call to the Doctor in his Tardis may be required to save the world.

The people who come to Blackpool don't just walk up and down the Prom. No one would make money from that. They go indoors to spend money.
