Didn’t play a match for usOwen Moffat
Still turned out well until Dobbie forgot how to tap a sitter in.Barry Ferguson?
Back pass Barry?Barry Ferguson?
It was actually meant to be a nod to Charlie who was one of the best players ever to grace Bloomfield Road and genuinely with Suddick my favourite ever player. If you specifically mean centre mids & came directly from Scotland, then I think Ian Black? Apparently he is a fridge engineer now.
I was there too.Vic Davidson, a great midfielder.
I was at the League Cup win (2-0) over Ipswich in 78 - he scored both (Ipswich were a top 4 Division 1 side in those days)
Sadly he was only with us one season before Celtic paid us just £35,000 for him

Before Charlie
I saw both players. Charlie was more aggressive and passionate, whilst Tony dropped his shoulder and was off with his silky skills.I never saw Tony Green play
Was he a better player than Charlie Adam or different style/position?
Different styles - Charlie could and did regularly change games.BC
Better (than) Charlie
Not a big miss...Owen Moffat
Tony Green was a brilliant, old-fashioned 'dribbler' - I believe that if it wasn't for the career-ending injuries he would have been ranked alongside George Best.I never saw Tony Green play

Clarkson's not strictly 'from Scotland'.
Fit see #16, I have addressed that pointSo, not only is Charlie not our last midfielder from Scotland, Clarkson's also not from Scotland.
Apart from that, it's a good post @puggiz.
Fit see #16, I have addressed that point
Again that has been addressed before. On your other account?
There's a Blackburn near Edinburgh.Clarkson is from Blackburn![]()
That's pushing it a bit. Yes Green was a good dribbler but for me not in Best's class. Best was also a prolific goalscorer whereas whilst Tony scoredTony Green was a brilliant, old-fashioned 'dribbler' - I believe that if it wasn't for the career-ending injuries he would have been ranked alongside George Best.
When he was with us I thought he was the best player in the Championship. His football brain, foresight and eye for a pass is what we badly need now.Barry Ferguson?
He was that good that the Gazette named their post match results paper after him, where Seasiders' legacy fans used to pick up a copy when alighting at the cemetery gates.Tony Green was a brilliant, old-fashioned 'dribbler' - I believe that if it wasn't for the career-ending injuries he would have been ranked alongside George Best.
£35,000? The game's gone I tells ya, ridiculous money! There'll be paying £100,000 for a single player before you know it.Vic Davidson, a great midfielder.

In that case I can’t remember a star player called Pink who played for usHe was that good that the Gazette named their post match results paper after him, where Seasiders' legacy fans used to pick up a copy when alighting at the cemetery gates.
No ceefax , no t'internet -only the radio and the Green for those who couldn't get home for the final scores.
Ferguson had an absolute outstanding attitude and mentality. When he was with us I thought he was the best player in the Championship. His football brain, foresight and eye for a pass is what we badly need now.
I hope he's no relation to that Jeremy 'Typical BBC - Inheritance tax pretend farmer arsehole' via Six degrees of separation.Clarkson is from Blackburn![]()
I know Pat Quinn wasn't with us very long but from memory he did well whilst here. I think the lure of returning to Scotland with Hibernian was too great for him to refuse. I'm sure we didn't want him to go.We did very well in the 60s taking players from Scotland at bargain prices . Midfield Tony Green Albion Rovers ,winger/midfield Tommy Hutchison from Alloa. Also full.back Henry Mowbray. Less successful, Pat Quinn . Ian Moir was a popular player for a while though came via Man U..
I think he did manage to get his face in the playoff final photo.Stephen Husband signed in 2010, looked useful as we led 5-0 against Swansea in our promotion season but then gave the ball away for their consolation and I don't think we saw him again after that.
Chopper McPhee, Hughie Fisher, Harry (for Scotland) Thompson...We did very well in the 60s taking players from Scotland at bargain prices . Tony Green was an attacking midfielder with amazing natural ability.BC
