Latest Covid figures for Lancashire, Not looking good is it?

Blackpool figures were low before August bank holiday, packed out during it then massive rise two weeks later.
Rinse and repeat for May bank holiday.
 
But it's time to stop the lockdowns unless hospital numbers shoot up, in four weeks there could well be another variant and so on until no one can have an operation and 90% of small businesses go bust.
 
I wonder how much of the ' spike ' in these specific areas of Lancashire / Bedford etc is down to a culture of non-vaccination

There is clearly a link with individuals returning from India and not self-isolating / communal family living arrangements but I haven't seen anything on the above
 
Reports now saying that 42 have died from Delta strain of which nearly 2/3rds not vaccinated. However a number have died after having 2 jabs.

Congratulations to the government for this strain being allowed to enter the country.

So 28 died that couldn’t be bothered to get vaccinated, how old were these people ? And how many is a number with 2 doses that have died and how old were they ? And did they die as a result of the Indian variant or did they have a positive test within 28 days of dying and then die of something completely different ?

Have to agree Scara. The ones not vaccinated won’t be young as if they were it would be all over the media to scare the living hell out of us.
The 28 days after a positive test thing is tough statistically- if you’re in your 90s, 28 days is a long time (as my nan said!!)

In the past month with cases, hospitalisations and deaths minimal I was continuously told on here that I was being impatient and what’s the problem you only have to wait a few more weeks, stop moaning, yet now with the latest PR campaign it’s likely to be extended for another month?

Why? Because we now need to vaccinate everyone which we were told was never the plan and the under 40’s and 30’s which we were always told and the stats don’t lie are at minimal risk from even being hospitalised from Covid. But but... the new variants... Fuck right off. The NHS is no longer going to be overwhelmed, the vulnerable are vaccinated and everyone else has immunity or an actual immune system, remember them?

All the Sage modelling is above what the current outlook is and this was the basis of the roadmap and restrictions being lifted, but seemingly, it looks now likely they will be extended and people just accept it. I’m guessing their income or opportunity to earn is not effected in any way with restrictions continuing.

Saw Lee Westwood’s Twitter earlier, he’s currently in Las Vegas and was watching an indoor hockey game with a capacity crowd, not a mask in sight, they’ve just cracked on there. Whilst here the government want to ban someone singing Football’s coming home in a pub and you’ve got scientists saying if you get a headache you should go for a Covid test.

We are so far down a rabbit hole now it is frightening.

states is not all open. I was in Arizona last week, no mask, everything open. I’m now in California and you need a mask for the shops.
Depends where you are over here but on the whole there just getting on with it. Even Mexico last month, all bars open but wear a mask in the shops.
It does seem that the scientist advising the government are on a bit of a power trip.
 
How they going to deal with it in another month when the figures are higher than they are now? Open up ? That’ll look stupid ? Or don’t open up and we go on and on and on ????

Yes, I did mention Vegas, but I know all aren’t. Florida and Texas are living life back to normal, it just shows how political all this has got. 70,000 indoors at the Canelo fight, baseball, hockey all full houses... like you say just getting on with it!

This week I know of two people who were fully vaccinated but have been quite poorly with covid. How effective is the vaccine,? I'm beginning to smell a rat with the variants and finger pointing at the unvaccinated.

How do you know they wouldn’t be? If they have been quite ill after having the vaccine, then they would likely be dead if they hadn’t had it.

Said on sky news this morning that of 42 people who died from the Indian variant, 12 had had two jabs. Now of course we don’t know how old they were, or whether they had other underlying issues.

What do people really think will happen if we delay ? And how will you feel if we delay only for them to push it back further. Then we’re into winter territory and then the figures will get worse. Where will it end, it has to be now. We have to except that we will live with this virus for ever and that people will die. There’s too much at stake other than COVID deaths.

Well something doesn’t add up I’ve just watched Jim Gardner medical director at Blackpool teaching hospitals do his weekly update today and he’s said no deaths in Blackpool for the last 7 days. 🤔

Those are the figures off the gov website, so somethings not matching up as those figures are from today.

Keep them out of hospitals. It's their prerogative not to have the vaccine bit it's equally their responsibility to deal with the outcome.
