Latest Covid figures for Lancashire, Not looking good is it?

Not good at all. Fr Bayern went to Jersey on Monday and fortunately Blackpool was on their green list yet Fylde had just been placed on their red list. Can't see that lasting too much longer.

Think we all know what or who effects that pattern trend.
Agree Willie, what the hell is going on in Blackburn with Darwen with it being so high? 😮😳

If things stay as they are a lot of people are going to be pissed off come the next Government review date (21st?) and hand on heart can anyone blame them if they introduce more lockdowns?

Review is Monday(14th) to see if restrictions change on the 21st.
Lock the towns down no way the rest of the country should suffer.

I got pelters from a couple of posters on the ticket sales thread for wanting to be cautious about our chances of getting into matches at the start of next season. Of course, we know by experience that the Government doesn't analyse regional differences below county/city level so if Lancashire remains a matter of concern there is every reason to remain cautious.

The picture is starting to look bad across the country, albeit starting from a much lower base:
  • Essex + 79.1%;
  • West Sussex + 131.9%;
  • Oxfordshire + 125.9%;
  • North Yorks + 91.7%.
I think at a minimum a couple of weeks delay is going to be called until the situation stabilises.

Agree with that analysis. The ground work is being laid already with comments over the last couple of days.

Think everyone knows it's going to be another 4 weeks.
By the times Boris makes his announcement it will have been all over the news and in the papers and we will have all accepted it.
Just how crappy politics works.

4 weeks won't make a blind bit of difference. It'll be a worse picture cases wise, the real data is in the hospitalisation patterns and death rates.

These figures mean nothing, do they record figure for anyone that wakes up with a sore head or a bad stomach after a dodgy kebab😯 human beings get ill that’s the way of the world, the important thing is most have been vaccinated so won’t end up in hospital 👍🏻 Those that choose not to get vaccinated in Blackburn cos they think it’s got pigs blood well frankly as long as they keep spreading it amongst themselves then so be it!!

It cant just be me who is sick to my back teeth with all this now - ok i know football isnt the be all and end all but personally feel it this way. Missed out on seeing the Seasiders at Wembley and also had my confirmed England v Scotland ticket cancelled due to covid restrictions. I just hope we can start the season with full capacity, i have my doubts.

If most are having the vaccine why are the figures escalating again?

The difference is the confidence we have that the link between cases and deaths is broken. it might be unwise to test that with 100,000 new cases per day.

Look at the cases heat map for England: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases?areaType=nation&areaName=England

Most of the cases are concentrated in the under 30's and declines steadily as you go up the age range.

But as others have pointed out hospitalisations and deaths are down. Maybe the virus is just something we will have to live with.

No everyone I know is sick of it!!! I’d hazard a guess that the country has fewer ill people cold flu whatever than any time in the last 50 years

Imagine if we use to test the flu like this? Everyone would have shat their pants in the winter with the “positive test” numbers in the Country.

A positive test is not an ill/sick person, all that’s happened is they have tested positive and in many cases they actually have no symptoms or anything wrong with them... Jon Rahm at the weekend a classic “case”. We are 15 months into this and still people think a case is a barometer for restrictions! It should only be hospitalisations and deaths.

What’s annoying the life out of me is about 5 weeks ago the cases were below 2,000 but there was no banging the drum from the media or many on here to get stuff open immediately- remember “data not dates”. However, as soon as cases rise then it’s we need to extend restrictions, local lockdowns, it’s only going one way!

If we are managing this by cases this nonsense never ends! I’m sick of this shite and the thought of limited numbers at Football or behind closed doors again is absolute bollocks... especially when the vulnerable are double jabbed and 80% of the Country have antibodies!

so in theory now the u30's' are starting to have jab, my lad has had his first one) and he's 26, the cases should come lower and lower...in theory.

Unfortunately we seem to be one of the only countries that is like this - I think it was the President of Portugal who accused the British of being obsessed with case numbers a couple of weeks ago.

The scientists advising the government seem to be loving the power they have, knowing restrictions don't impact their income in any way. They're also loving the air time and exposure this is giving them as shown by the endless tv interviews they seem to be undertaking.

Add into this the media who are loving every minute of it - they've never had so many clicks and interactions. It's in their best interests for Covid chaos to carry on.

Put a ring of steel around affected areas, only go in or out of those if you have a positive test and of course no crowds allowed at Blackburn

You never know, people travelling to Kent or similar in England maybe bringing it back here and they call people travelling abroad idiots.

Spot on.

Senior government scientist Susan Michie thinks masks and social distancing should remain forever... these people are deranged and dangerous.

Just before someone asks me my scientific qualifications I’ve got none, but she is a “behavioural scientist” and Kate and Gerry McCann are qualified doctors and I wouldn’t let them look after my kids.

It is all pure theatre and we need someone with some bollocks in the Government to stand up and say we’ve vaccinated the vulnerable, everyday life has risk so let’s crack on.

My question is though, it looks like they don’t want to do that. Painful.

Susan Michie is a senior member of the Communist Party and has been her whole life. She is a political extremist who happens to be a scientist. I always find it weird that we tolerate political excesses from the Left but not the Right. It would be hard to imagine a council member of the BNP being admitted to SAGE.

Cases are rising in the u30s because they haven't been vaccinated and dropping sharply in older age groups who have had 2 jabs. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, anti vaxxers.

Obvious really, when added to decent weather and people jumping the gun on the lifting of restrictions ( key offenders again being u30s from what I witness)

And for the record, not a government scientist although she is happy to pretend she is.

Hospitalisations and deaths keep low then who really cares. If you don’t have a vaccination and your eligible for one and your worried then that’s tough.

I doubt there is a BNP member bright enough to be part of SAGE.

So what is the way out of this then? If we start shi**ing the bed every time cases rise when we try to open up the economy, then there is never going to be any route back to normality surely?
Unfortunately the number of hospital cases has also been rising again over the last couple of weeks. It is that plus any material increase in the number of deaths that will cause the Goverment to delay further relaxation of restrictions. Difficult to determine what the 'material' trigger points shoulfd be. They shouldn't have allowed people to jet off abroad and there should be a much, much stricter control of thr borders. It is clear that many of the the more contagious variants have been imported from abroad.

Yep, the airline lobby is clearly more powerful than the nightclub lobby. That's politics though.

Seven deaths today with a positive test, if that doesn't go up much it's time to open up completely, the country can't take much more and the NHS waiting lists are going to kill more people than the virus ever will.

I do wish people would stop banging on about their holiday refunds or delayed weddings mind, it's tough shit really.

Agree. I don't know why people don't get married with the 30 (?) people allowed and then have a proper celebration party when all restrictions are lifted.

Lytham

"the NHS waiting lists ARE GOING TO kill more people than the virus ever will"

I am not an expert on the NHS but I'm surprised you say ARE GOING TO here ?

Surely that's been the case for a long while already ?

Covid fatalities have been very low - relatively and I don't want anybody to die - for a fair while now and I'd be amazed if there haven't been more deaths caused by the issues around treatment during the restrictions than from the virus itself ?

Regardless of your choice of words, I am absolutely dreading the harm that is being done by continued restrictions - by that I don't mean lockdown, I mean all the associated issues of the way we people behave during the virus, such as people not going for check ups or not attending operations and delays etc etc.

I am not blaming anybody, I am just praying that things don't turn out too bad.

Yes, people seem to have forgotten that there’s actually other illnesses in the world killing far more people than the virus. The longer this madness goes on the more people will die from other things.

The Government were rightly slated for considering the do nothing option of herd immunity. With over 80% of adults now having had one jab at least, we've reached that stage anyway.

Infections shouldn't be the measure now. We have been in the lockdown phase to protect the NHS. If hospitalizations continue to remain low then there's no real justification for continuing to restrict the public, other than overseas travel because of the possibility of variants.

IMO

Spot on, as is the point made about people dying that are on waiting lists.

In my opinion they will extend the date by a month, so it will be the 21st July, they will try and get everyone vaccinated at least once in that extra time and will really push the second vaccines. The numbers will increase of cases but I expect numbers of people in hospital and deaths will remain low and that they will then unlock completely by the 21st July. Just in time for the school holidays, I also expect us all to start getting boosters by September to really nail it down. Boris knows we can't go on like this so he will be itching to get everything opened up again, I just think we'll have to wait another 4 or 5 weeks.

Itching to get things open?! Just wait another 4 or 5 weeks. If that’s itching then F me.

This just goes on and on.

In the past month with cases, hospitalisations and deaths minimal I was continuously told on here that I was being impatient and what’s the problem you only have to wait a few more weeks, stop moaning, yet now with the latest PR campaign it’s likely to be extended for another month?

Why? Because we now need to vaccinate everyone which we were told was never the plan and the under 40’s and 30’s which we were always told and the stats don’t lie are at minimal risk from even being hospitalised from Covid. But but... the new variants... Fuck right off. The NHS is no longer going to be overwhelmed, the vulnerable are vaccinated and everyone else has immunity or an actual immune system, remember them?

All the Sage modelling is above what the current outlook is and this was the basis of the roadmap and restrictions being lifted, but seemingly, it looks now likely they will be extended and people just accept it. I’m guessing their income or opportunity to earn is not effected in any way with restrictions continuing.

Saw Lee Westwood’s Twitter earlier, he’s currently in Las Vegas and was watching an indoor hockey game with a capacity crowd, not a mask in sight, they’ve just cracked on there. Whilst here the government want to ban someone singing Football’s coming home in a pub and you’ve got scientists saying if you get a headache you should go for a Covid test.

We are so far down a rabbit hole now it is frightening.

“ITs OnLy FoUr moRe WEekS!! SToP Complaining!”

Joke.

Wait two weeks then another two weeks then a month then three months then 6months. Gonna go on forever. People need to get on with their lives. People getting really pissed off after fifteen months and who can blame them.
government allowed this Indian variant into the UK they should be made accountable. Thousands of businesses still suffering and many only running at 20% capacity The country needs to be opened up. Keep the borders closed until the uk population have all had second jabs.

It’s such a strong consensus now.

We’ve had the new variants come and infect large communities quickly. It’s had almost no affect on the NHS and more people are now dying daily of alcohol related deaths than Covid.

Time to move on. Boost us again in the winter if you need to but let’s get the economy moving. Treat the sick of non Covid again and build up funds to ensure poor countries are vaccinated too so the super variant that they’re so scared of don’t appear.

Finally tell China to leave the bats alone in future 😁
