No surprise there.

How about only hiring the best man for the job?

Then again if I'm watching men's sport I'd rather have a panel of males talking about the game, not some Doris.

And how did Clinton Morrison and Lianne Sanderson ever get a job on Sky with their gangster accents?

I have to turn the TV off when Lianne Sanderson is on. Awful.

It`s pathetic ,racist and sexist. If a balance is needed then proportions of each in the population and in the case of sport, proportions participating would give a fairer balance but most important of all those most articulate and most capable of doing the job well might help to give the viewers the best service but that seems to be the last qualification considered these days.

Some Doris thinks if you’d have made a more comprehensive argument to back up your opinions you might have got more support.

I thought Le Tissier was very good. Calm intelligent and came across as a good bloke. A cut above many professional footballers.
A cut above many people in all walks of life. When it comes to footballers I am amazed how few get into trouble when you consider how much they earn, their age and the status they have.
It really is a very small number that make the headlines for the wrong reasons, most of them are regular people earning very inflated pay for around 10 years, and behaving themselves!

Gangster accents? Like Joe Pesci?

‘The next batch of London correspondents’ will be ... what, two/three people? Sorry if ur television looks like the country. You can always turn it off...

The criteria should be that they are good at their job and diversity is a good thing to attract a diverse viewing audience. However, I have never been in favour of 'positive' discrimination employment policies but more active marketing and encouragement to hard to reach groups. I have employed quite a few disabled and minority employees through that route and they have been good appointments.
One thing for certain, some of the past appointments to the all white, male commentators / analysts have been truly awful at their jobs (and often pretty arrogant), but if you are in their 'club' then you seem to survive for years.

The rest of the piece outlines Sky's hiring policy: “A reminder that our targets are 50/50 on gender and 20% ethnicity.” Seems fair enough to me.

I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about - the e-mail seems to address a need to improve diversity given recent losses/absences and says the next group of candidates happen to all be from a certain background. How can anyone deduce that the best people for the job weren't considered?

Breaking news....Football focus has actually 3 white males on today.
No sign of gangster Clinton , weird Garth or 360 caps for England and 20 fA Cups Alex.
