You may not agree with his positions on gay marriage, abortion etc (I don't) - but at least he's got the courage to say it and that his opinions are founded in his faith. He has the right to hold those views and to express his faith.

The stuff he said as a kid shouldn't even be political piece - he was a 12 year old ffs.

But yes, he's out of touch with the majority of us who live here.

No but Bojo did.I helped him and " that's ok old bean call me Jake" load up their sleigh.Jake then invited me to join him and Bojo at their chalet for a party but I was on a promise with Sophia Loren so had to make my excuses and leave them to it.

It doesn't take courage to say the things he does, it takes extreme levels of stupidity allied to a believing an extreme position on faith and a very expensive private education that has filled his head with delusions of superiority. The alternative to that explanation is that he is so disconnected from the real world he has some form of mental illness.
 
Where was social services when he was being brainwashed by his family.
Highly intelligent kids do not need public school education. They only serve to enhance the stupidity in people like Mogg.
And unfortunately for us they go to become MP's to punish us for having more brains than them.

JRM, along with Cameron, Johnson and a few others in cabinet are a clear indication that private education should be dismantled. When did eton, charterhouse, Harrow or the like last produce a top line scientist or engineer. They produce people who talk, barristers, politicians, media commentators
 
Not sure having strong “faith” is a good thing at all?

If his faith was in the cult of Cthulhu or belief that he was a Jedi would it be more or less credible? Or maybe less left field but if he was announced as a strong Islamist with a literal belief that mirrored extremist views, would it give credence?

Private schools don't exist to provide a better education for intelligent children. They exist to provide social networks among the upper and upper middle classes. Also, a rigidly taught route to Oxbridge.

It is well possible to be a strong Islamist without adhering to extremist views. Just as it is reasonable to be a faithful Jew without being a Zionist or a faithful Christian without being a sectarian biggot.

My point is that having a strong faith is not a judgement of good character. As you state, strong faith can put you anywhere inside of the spectrum of ‘character’.
