Lincoln City v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 10.04.21

I thought their second goal was offside at the time, I've just seen the highlights and think the same they seemed to be favoured by the ref. Not bad a point away from home though, bit of a reality check won't do us any harm, the run continues.

Yesterday was very frustrating in the way we faded in the second half but the truth is we looked jaded after a gruelling run of games, no surprise or shame in that. Nobody though could have predicted how poor the referee and officials would be. Clear red card for the challenge on Maxwell and a clear penalty as the video shows. It is this that is so damaging, get those decisions right and Lincoln would have been well beaten. On the evidence of yesterday we are a far better side.

Just one observation from yesterday. We have a great defensive record but we are not comfortable defending.

Some of the referee's decisions yesterday made my tangerine blood boil. When that desperate lunge, I won't give it the status of a challenge, on Maxwell occured, I expected him to be carried off, and Morton to be given the red card. Instead of having almost all the match against 10 men, it seemed like we were playing against 12, the 12th was their star player.
We played some superb football for over an hour but Lincoln's rash challenges and having no protection from the referee took its toll. Even when Lincoln had made it 2-2, the referee conjured up yet another play-on situation instead of giving us a penalty for handball, just like the one he missed for the obvious pullback on Simms in the first half as he was as powering towards goal.
I'M PROUD OF YOU BLACKPOOL.
LET'S GET UP IN THE PLAYOFFS.

I think it may be down to our attempt to be more positive, we're still not conceding many goals but the more goals we have been doing may be down to our attempt to get more goals. It makes sense really, prior to the system change we never took any risks and were pretty negative - hence the absolute lack of goals conceded, but lack of goals for.

To be honest, with yesterday though I thought we were unlucky. We could have had 4 or 5, and they took their two second half chances - another day we score more goals and another day they only take 1 or neither of their chances - its a funny old game as they say!
