I keep seeing these words popping up on here.

There are at least 3 smaller clubs than us in this division and around another 5 or 6 similarly sized clubs.

It's disappointing to see this tinpot mentality. Clearly a hangover from the Oyston years.

Get the pricing right. Get the marketing right. A reasonable brand of football and the potential will start to show.

To be fair Appleton keeps saying we’re the smallest club in the league, annoying.

Agree, it's very disheartening, why do we have "the sleeping giant has awoken" plastered on the tunnel exit then?.

Also, that mentality seeping into the players is dangerous and is surely damaging to us signing players. Why would any player at a decent sized league one club or any champ club join us when our leadership and management is constantly talking about how we will always "struggle to compete".

Which clubs are they then?

They are smaller clubs than us.

Do you regard us as the smallest club in the division? Don't we belong in the Championship?

Good post. AVFTT is rife with this small club mentality. The "we'll just make do" apathetic types that swallowed Karl's bullshit year in year out right to the end. They cannot get past he's gone and change their mindset.

I had the same argument today.
Out of interest
Smaller....who?
Same size who?

We have a rich history, FA Cup Winners, Play Off world champions, Anglo Italian and LDV, it is far less dependent on crowd size these days with the amount of TV money available in The Prem. Get back there and the sleeping giant can awaken, is was only stirred in the O years.

When did Appleton refer to us as the smallest club in the league?. He is doing himself no favours at all apart from getting supporters backs up, talk about Mr.Demotivator

Pointless tinpot post.
Get some Tumeric pots.
That you mention 'the family' gives away your Moor Park fishing rod mentality.
You might be better spending sometime to look at the level of Hemmings' creditors.

I mean this "size of club" stuff is a bit of a guessing game, I agree historically we're a similar size club to Hull, Hudders, PNE, Millwall and others and a much bigger club than Wigan and Rotherham but in terms of current purchasing power and allure, today, we are likely bottom 3.

Why does it matter, we got to the premiership with that attitude, also players will sign if we offer the right money, sometimes it’s good to be the underdogs, Sheffield Wednesday are a massive club, Ipswich are as well, ok Sunderland got promoted after ages in league one but they didn’t have some free pass to the championship because of being a big club, the tag you’re labelled with means nothing and to be honest being seen as a “small club “ makes me even more happy when we have success

Why we need a Belokon back - he soon drummed that out of Tony Parkes - anyone remember when he said his goal for the next season was survival .. brought Ollie in and we got promoted.
History being re written there, TP kept us up when SG left with all the loans, and Koko offered him a derisory salary to stay.

Teams in this league are similar or less so then Blackpool as we ve a great history and although maybe less fans than say Sunderland perhaps but they ain't got the history.
