Looks Like Levelling Up's Gone Out the Window

Not mentioned once by any of the 6 remaining Tory Leader candidates.

They do mention tax cuts and reductions in public expenditure so the North is going to get hammered.

The "Red Wall" is alive and well, and people will be sitting astride it celebrating the defeat of the Tory Government.

The current Tories have no interest in levelling up. They want to maintain and strengthen the wealth of those who are already extremely well off. So no mention of inequality or poverty in their pitches , zero commitment to environmental issues as a priority......etc

Cruella did mention considerable reductions in welfare payments. I think she wants to reintroduce gruel as the staple for school dinners

Leaving twatishness aside - I’m still not sure whether:

1. Levelling Up was always a load of BS designed to con people? Or

2. It was a genuine policy but has now been dropped from the Tory Party’s agenda?

It was never destined to work under the Tories as a) it was essentially a socialist policy and b) the majority of members and southern-based support base are dead against it for selfish reasons as much as ideological ones.

Has the Conservative Party ever had the best interests of the north of England at heart?

Can anyone name a Labour policy or recall when " Smasherooney Borefest" Keith last explained one ? Fecking hell what a useless unelectable opposition. Corblimey was crap but at least he talked about his policies😂😜🇬🇧
All very well, but I'll pose the question again.

What's happening to the Levelling-Up policy.

To some extent they have levelled up they've bought the cost of living in blackpool and other northern areas up to London levels. yay

it was PR Bullshit, mixed with horseshit, with a generous topping of cat shit all wrapped up in a dogshit parcel.

Weirdly, I think it was a genuine Johnson policy but one which he didn't know or was not bothered about how to implement.

If I was a freshly dumped steaming pile of shit I'd be very annoyed at being linked with the tory Party.

They are talking to their members at the moment most of whom are not in red wall seats.

Once the contest is settled; you'll see the focus shift to how to stay in power without the charisma of Boris.

They can only do that if they can continue to show a commitment to those voters who put them into power in 2019.

The Tories are very good at winning and staying in power and they know what they will have to do and I'm sure they will.

Given Labour have lost the pantomime villain and aren't going to get a snap election they are going to have to be far clearer on what they will offer.

The focus is going to shift onto the vacuum of policies from LOTO who is going to have to demonstrate why he's going to be a better choice - and quite frankly - he's going to need to do that whilst having the personality of a beige wall - which puts him at a serious disadvantage.

And that's before his newly emboldened Unions and Marxists put the boot in for not being one of them.

If I was a betting man; we're going to hear a lot about a government for all people of our islands from the Tories and a much tighter Number 10 - far fewer shooting themselves in the foot mistakes, which is going to make it much harder for Labour under the current leadership.

Just win the marginal seats and power is gained. Pump money into them, the hard up towns that vote labour by a big majority, the tories won't spend a penny on them.

I agree with that mostly.

But the marginal seats have shifted to be places which have historically never voted Tory (Hartlepool for example).
