because his books are more worth reading? If legislation can be introduced to strip Mandelson of his title, why cannot the same have been done to the convicted jailbird Archer?
Along with Lord Nazir Ahmed, Lord John Taylor, Lord Hanningfield, and more. These examples have all served jail sentences ranging from child sexual offences to expense fraud and perjury. If legislation can be introduced to strip Mandelson of his title, why cannot the same have been done to the convicted jailbird Archer?
Stupid I know but, under historical law knighthoods can be removed, peerages can’t not even by the monarch, who bestows them. It’s time many of these archaic laws were removed.Poor old Lester Piggott they took away his knighthood for a bit of tax evasion!
Travesty!
Nothing compared with Mandleson and Archer
Peerages can be removed but only by Act of Parliament. It shouldn't be too difficult for the Government to have a law enacted to change this arrangement. Of course, it would be very low on the list of priorities. The truth is, no Government would go anywhere near changing the current arrangements.Stupid I know but, under historical law knighthoods can be removed, peerages can’t not even by the monarch, who bestows them. That’s why it hasn’t happened under previous governments. Although if they were to ask the public I would hazard a guess an overwhelming majority would be in favour.Peerages can be removed but only by Act of Parliament. But he still keeps the title.Archer?? The most ridiculous sentence ever for his offence and in mitigation he has the best cottage pie recipe ever, leave him alone... on second thoughts his books, put him back in prison!! Oh and Mandy has resigned from the Lord's.
Fairs fair, he gets to keep his title, I get to torture him forever for the one book of his that I read, he can do some more prison diaries. But he still keeps the title.
You could derive great satisfaction by torturing him in the worst way I can think of, make him buy, and use on pain of death, a nobbers season ticket.Fairs fair, he gets to keep his title, I get to torture him forever for the one book of his that I read, he can do some more prison diaries.
I'd love it if they did a sweep of the House of Lords to remove the utter shite that are able to sit in there. If less gislation can be introduced to strip Mandelson of his title, why cannot the same have been done to the convicted jailbird Archer?
Archer lives about a mile from me in Granchester and he’s not very popular around here - bit of a dickhead and his wife isn’t much better! You could derive great satisfaction by torturing him in the worst way I can think of, make him buy, and use on pain of death, a nobbers season ticket.![]()
The son of the KGB agent and his own daughter?I'd love it if they did a sweep of the House of Lords to remove the utter shite that are able to sit in there.
Boris Johnson's pals can fuck off to start with.
There is a simple solution. Abolish the Lords . These entitled, unelected buffoons have no place in a democratic society. And if we didn’t already know it, recent goings on have emphasised just how totally brainless and self serving they are. No one with half a brain would actually want to be associated with that organisation in the first place.Stupid I know but, under historical law knighthoods can be removed, peerages can’t not even by the monarch, who bestows them. I agree to a certain extent. All governments need a second chamber of some description, before we abolish the one we have, we have to find a democratic replacement. What it would look like, who knows. The sooner the process is started the sooner it will be done. There is a simple solution. Abolish the Lords . Democratic is the object word here. There absolutely nothing about the Lords that’s democratic and I personally don’t feel they have any right to stand in the way of parliamentI agree to a certain extent. Would the act have to pass through the HOL's to abolish it though. Just saying!I agree to a certain extent. Turkeys voting for Christmas.Would the act have to pass through the HOL's to abolish it though. Just saying!
That’s why a second chamber is required to scrutinise what the commons does. As I said and you reiterated democracy matters.Democratic is the object word here. There absolutely nothing about the Lords that’s democratic and I personally don’t feel they have any right to stand in the way of parliament
