Love to know Hamilton's cross success ratio ....

If his success rate was any higher he wouldn’t be playing in league 1. Saying that, I actually think his success rate is very high regardless. Granted there was a few wayward ones yesterday but he’s had a fair few assists already and I can remember many where he’s crossed and it hasn’t been converted.

He has got better as the season has progressed. It was frustrating in the early games when he hit the first defender or put it behind the runners, but I think we also need to consider the (lack of) options/movement for him under previous formations which weren't working

His delivery seems to be getting better, as others have pointed out he's set up a fair few goals in recent games.

I'm sure playing on the right as a left footed winger doesn't help, if he's not cutting in he's having to cross on his right foot - maybe the signs of improvement we're seeing is the result of graft on the training ground working on his weaker foot! He'd be worth a pretty penny if we manage to make him ambipedal (yes I had to google that).

Trust in our coaches to improve his crossing ability but as others have said he won't be a league 1 player when it all clicks. Hopefully will be in the championship with the Pool

If he has that pace, power AND a final ball he wouldn't be playing in League One!!
The thing is he has got a decent end product, somebody will know but off the top of my head i would say he has 4 or 5 goals and 3 or 4 assists to his name. What more do we want! And there have been a few occasions where he has set them up and others have fluffed their chance, i think he has been a good signing.

Half his problem is having someone to cross to, esp. early on. Only one in the box the %age chances and options are much lower than 3 in the box.

No player is ever going to have a 100% success rate.

No doubt he is an influential player but his final ball quite often disappoints - @Insider - any stats?
No I don't but I'll use my fingers and toes to count next match.
I did think yesterday he put in a couple of very decent crosses (I think he gave Woodburn his chance?) so some of the time it's not just down to him that we don't capitalise on his ability to get to the dead ball line and then deliver a cross (of some description).
As I said on the match thread yesterday he's a real enigma.

I don't see him crossing to heads much, more pulling back for the oncoming midfielder/ support player.

As soon as he starts getting the majority of his crosses on target, we'll be saying goodbye to him because League One footballers aren't perfect for 90 minutes in every game.
He has lightening pace which would stand out on any stage in the world, the fact his crossing is often wayward is why he is currently a Blackpool player.
If he had a left foot like Simmo's or Rick Holden's he would be in the Premier League.

I'd love to know what people expect of a good league one player. I think he has been a superb signing so far and he must be worth a lot more than we paid for him. I think he will be close to getting in the league one team of the season if he can get 10 plus goals and ten plus assists. He is easily on target to do this and as long as he stays injury free then he should play as much as possible. Lets be honest if some of our other players could finish he could have had double the number of assists. I just dont understand the criticism some of our fans level at him and he is my player of the season so far. I just wish he got more service at times.

He's a massive asset but he's also got flaws to his game. Critchley seems to have set us up better and we are now creating chances on a far more regular basis. But I think we all know that there's gonna be that odd occasion where Hamiltons weakness is gonna cost us points. The ability to set up that simple chance for some-one else.. But anyway, that's football. There's plenty of PL players who have the same problem.

I completely agree. The only thing I can put it down to is that during the boycott years they've have been accustomed to watching teams like Pep's Man City which have cost about £500m to put together and expecting all football to be played to the same standard.

I think that is probably because he is a lefty playing on the right, easier to get past the defender and pass one back on the deck with his left than it would be to cross like an old school winger with his right.

The lad has limited options and I think there's an element of when he does get in the position of 'Oh, shit, what's next' which can force error. As said above, there's little point in putting head high crosses in as there's only one there who can head and the rest (on a v. good day) are breaking for pull backs.

Insy calls him an enigma, I prefer a victim of his own success.

Martin Sandra Bullock never put a decent cross in through his whole career still loved him. CJ is a great signing for us and will only get better.

I was listening to the Portsmouth commentary for the first half an hour and they mentioned him and he is obviously a player other clubs are well aware of and fear. They said he made the Doncaster players look like they were running in slow motion against him and that he was like lightening. We are very lucky to have him and he is improving with every game. As are a lot of our players which means they are being trained and coached well and they are forming an understanding with their team mates. I can only see us continuing to improve as the season goes on.

To think some wanted us to still have Feeney playing, we have far better players than him now and I don't mean that disrespectively, we just do.

Every co-commentator (inc. Brett) wonders why we don't get the ball straight to him. He frightens defences. Managers pick him out as a threat. So yes, we do need to get the ball to him more and...no, his crosses aren't great.

I agree with you that he should get more service. His crosses arent as bad as some make out and his assists show you that...if he was as good as some people think he should at crossing then he would be playing for a top Premier league side...I doubt we will keep hold of him if he continues the way he is and I could easily see a six figure fee which would be great business for the club. He and Dougall are close for player of the season.

It’s not just him getting better it’s also the team getting to know more what he’s going to do.

Kaikai, Madine and Anderson have all benefited from his cutbacks off the top of my head which shows they’re improving their familiarity with one another.

Having CJ and to some degree, Kai Kai must forces the opposition to change their normal playing style.

A high line is impossible when playing against him/them.

Add in he's a decent crosser and decent finisher and I much prefer him playing for us, than against us.
