Luton v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 23.04.22

Really hope we get a result….just been reading comments on their board….talk about over confidence…they think they are at Wembley in the play off final already.

Scrafton saying on Twitter that Gabriel might not play again this season, Stewart not too far away though. And apparently Dujon might return to play again. Gazette article says...

"Luke Garbutt does come back into contention, however, having recovered from a bout of illness.
“Jordan Gabriel will be out, Dujon Sterling is doing a bit of running and is on the grass at Chelsea, Kev Stewart is not too far away,” Critchley said.
“Luke Garbutt has been back in after his illness, he’s been training so he can come into contention for the squad.
“I think that’s it though, so it’s pretty much similar to what it was on Monday as we’ve had no issues since then.”

Same as Monday will do for me

For those in N.America it's on ESPN+. The big question is can TinkerCritch resist the temptation not to start with the same eleven?

Well I’m all right jack, it’s on sky and the brother in law is coming round with fish & chips. I’ll be on beers, he’s tee total

Wherever you all decide to watch this match let's all be extremely positive for a Pool result, whilst Luton have had a very good season it does not mean they have to come out on top.
Come on you tangerine wizards let's have another all round performance like you gave us on Monday.
COYP

Can’t wait, missed the Birmingham game with this horrible chest infection which still won’t clear, so sat at home waiting with excited anticipation.

It will be nice to see Luke involved again.

I believe we have a chance of something from this game. Luton are having a good season but defensively can let in a few. Maybe Beesley can continue his great start and I am hopeful of at least a draw today.

Really hope we go for it today, they are a good side but all the pressure is on them today, an early goal for the pool and get the home fans on their backs.

Luton not conceded in their last 3, including Forest. But they ain't seen nothin' like the mighty Bees.

I remember (just) when the County was a proper pub. Proper Boddingtons and wooden floors. Some things have got much worse. Progress is all over the place. We'll never get that back!
If you only just remember The County when it was a proper pub you probably don't remember The Fairhaven in Ansdell or The Vic in St Annes when they, too, were proper Boddies pubs. They were the days!

Did they get their emergency loan for a goalkeeper and if so, who?

We have to attack them , as we did Brum, otherwise we will give them the freedom of the ground which could prove costly.

Good luck and enjoy the day to all the travelling Seasiders. Hope our boys entertain those watching at home, too. Luton are having a great season, but I think we’ve every chance of beating them today.

Absolutely rammed all weekend with Oyston driving past in his convertible every 10 minutes.

The Queens was always much better anyway.

I meant just as in my memory is failing! I lived near the Vic for a while and went for s regular Bodds fix. I grew up near the Fairhaven but too young, just, to ever go in the old one. Which irked me cos me big bruvver Chopper used to bang on about how good it was.

Me too. Queens used to be a proper spit and sawdust joint too. Happy days

I sometimes wander down to the Quadrant in Stretford to watch games on Sky. I'm wondering if they might even stick our game on there today, after United's last performance!
Rangnick has apparently said that United needs open heart surgery. Sometimes it's kinder to let the patient slip away, I think! We could give them a good funeral.

It think it helped encourage me to leave the area. The ruination of all the pubs. I felt increasingly like an alien. The utter poncification of the town centres and the pubs in particular. I remember conversations at work in which people were really excited about the amazing refits if the pubs, whilst I was aghast and distraught. And I knew I had to leave.

I know FY8 moved to South Shore, as previously discussed. I shot off to London and then hurtled back up to Manchester. Now my area here has been poncified and I'm considering moving somewhere that is immune to being tarted up. Burnley perhaps?! That'll never get the treatment, surely?! Any other ideas?

This is our last opportunity this season to see how good we are against quality opposition and a great test against a solid and consistent team who are deservedly in the play off places. Let’s put on a performance to be proud of and get the 3 points.

Interesting that Luton lost 5-0 at home to Birmingham earlier in the season, and 3-0 away to them, for a thumping 8-0 aggregate!

Luton have been consistently near the top of the recent current form tables so I expect a tough test. Given our recent performances whilst live on sky we could do with a turn round. I just hope they give it a good go and are able to create and take any scoring opportunities.

We've only won 4 away games this season. Boro, Reading, Sheff and Stoke. Only one since October, 6 months ago. Need to put that right in our remaining 3 away games.
