Lytham, St Annes or Fairhaven

I currently live in Chorley but fancy moving over. I'm puzzled about which area is which? I'm guessing St Anne's is the bit from the tram depot down to the boat lake. Fairhaven is the bit inbetween and lytham is the expensive bit around the windmill and Lowther Gardens. My budget is about 300k will I be able to get anything decent or not? Saw a large Victorian semi and the price was 600k 😳

You’ve got Ansdell mixed in there too but technically that’s St Anne’s I think.
Something decent is subjective I suppose. In my circumstances I’d get something more than decent for my needs with that budget 👍
Lytham probably more expensive than St Anne’s but it has a more ‘swish’ centre and cafe culture. My daughter has just moved to Lytham and it’s a great location for all generations.
Yes, you’d be good on that budget definitely. But have a good trial run of all areas to get a feel for them individually yourself 👍

Far more 'wannabes' posh arseholes & cocaine culture in Lytham.

FWIW i would probably live there if i could afford it 🤣 😂 .

Lala tell your daughter to be careful as she will likely get 'hit on' by an erm certain type of chap 😝

Fairhaven is on the up now that the works have been completed around the lake. It could be a good place to invest. Prices on the front are around £750k but reduce as you move inland into Ansdell. Lytham is nice but overpriced. St Annes is in need of investment but is relatively cheap

No pubs in Fairhaven.

I’ve advised a friend to consider Fleetwood because there are some decent properties close to the golf course and less crowded with more appealing views of the coast.
I find Lytham, St Annes and Fairhaven congested.

We moved to Lytham in 2002 & lived there for 14 years whilst the kids were growing up (Lytham St Annes High is a very good school if you have kids - it's in Ansdell BTW). No idea of your circumstances, but LSA is a lovely place to live*

You have the areas about right; Lytham starts where Fairhaven ends (IE The White Church), and as Lala says, Ansdell is to the East of Fairhaven (Fylde RUFC etc) - and Lala is also spot on that Lytham is dearer than St Annes (bit of a snobbery factor as the local estate agents put it)

I won't bore you with prices as I'm sure you've looked on Right-move already, but I always found that you get MUCH MUCH more house for your money in Blackpool. But I'm a South Shore lad so I'm a bit biased (back in S/S since 2016).

£300k will get you a decent detached home in Blackpool, but you'd be lucky to get the same quality home in FY8 (unless you move to one of the new properties opposite the sand dunes where Pontins used to be perhaps). The old Victorian properties on Park View Rd Lytham and in Ansdell near the rugby club will set you you back £600k, even some of the semi detached houses.

*I could go on for ages (bars, pubs etc) , but for what it's worth I think Blackpool has beautiful areas - but as I said I'm a bit biased.

What’s up with Blackpool, too poor and rough for a socialist ?

I hear the streets in Latham are paved with gold and almost every house has an indoor lavatory.....some even have bidets (that's posh for foot bath)

I think it’s practically indisputable that you pay a hefty sum over the odds if you buy in Lytham simply for the champagne Charlie factor.
That’s not saying it isn’t a good base with a nice prom and an upmarket vibe but you definitely pay for that. If that isn’t your bag then definitely search a little outward fromLytham.

There’s no way you live in Blackpool seeing as you’re such a posh tory boy. Somewhere around Lowther Gardens in Lytham would be my bet, am I right?

Edit: come to think of it you’ll be one of Karl’s shooting set in the Trough of Bowland.

Depends what you mean by decent... Personally (and I lived there till recently) I think Lytham has gone too far up its own arse and if I was moving to the area I’d look at St Anne’s. Better value and more down to earth.

FY1 mate. Another silly Lefty with no idea.

Chorley is a shithole anywhere on the Fylde coast is way better. 👍
Chorley isn't a shit hole. Brindle, Withnell, Mawdesley and white coppice are affluent areas. The town centre astley park is one of the best in lancs and the surrounding countryside and west Pennines moors are great. My wife and I love the sea and now my lad has left home, it seems the time is right for a change.

Want to be near the beach

Then I think St Annes would be cheaper than Fairhaven if you are sure you want to move to Lytham St Annes (FY8)

Also close to Blackpool beach is Squires Gate area (FY4), and also Bispham (FY2) - both cheaper options as I've said
£300k can get you a large detached on Freemantle Ave for example (near Starr Gate traffic lights), or a lovely property in North Shore/Bispham/Norbreck close to the Prom. Depends on your preferred location - good luck. 👍

Ansdell/Fairhaven are where the value would be.

Have a look at right move and set the parameters as required using FY8.

A lot of the hotels in Lytham are full of illegal immigrants, the railway line not electrified and high % of renters,Clifton St full of chaz shops. Its a step up from southshore.

Get up to Cleveleys- it’s like LSA but everyone is more chilled out because they can’t afford the same quantities of coke and multiple pairs of white jeans.

That made me laugh......apart from all of it being total bollox....WTF has the railway line not being electrified got to do with living in Lytham....?

Every other shop heading out of Lytham to Warton are chaz shops or shut down. Nothing wrong with the rest. House prices are very negotiable too in the current climate.

I think you should write to Kirsty and Phil. They'll find you something (that's what my other half has just said).

Lytham, aka, fur coat and no knickersville. You’ll enjoy visiting the Capri bar. It’s alway full of coke sniffers and Botox disasters!🤪
