Madine?

I thought he did ok today, especially first half. He won quite a lot and spread play well. He also played some nice passes and you could see at least a few reasons why he went for a lot of money not that long ago. I didn't think he was on it at all against Bolton but I was a bit surprised to log on here and see quite a few posts about him not being up to much today.

He struggled second half a bit but I thought that was more about us in general getting pressed high by them than him per se.

The most overrated player ever he’s next to useless.

He’s been carrying a knock for a few weeks, but when the performances have been decent with him in the side, it makes sense to name an unchanged side.
He’s a very good target man. He wins headers, holds the ball up, links up play and roughs up the centre backs of the opposition. Just because he’s not on the score sheet doesn’t mean he isn’t doing anything!

But he wasn’t doing anything, movement poor, poor touch and scared to strike the ball with his left when he had a good chance 1st half.

Maybe he will get better, but for me he’s behind Nuttall.

I think the point of Madine is to bring in the midfielders.

I agree he should have done better with the first half chance.
But he is a big part of our build up play, when he holds the ball up it allows the team to get up the pitch. He single handedly occupied the 2 Ipswich centre halves.
It’s the gritty work that a lot of people don’t see because he’s isn’t scoring.
He’ll prove a very good player for us.

I see some of our "support" has identified its new Gnanduillet 🙄

Surprised he's playing 90 minutes when visibly not fully fit. Gnanduillet's return and what looks like a resurgent Nuttall might mean he can get a rest.

If he's in the new manager's plans next year we'll have a canny, experienced forward who can bring a few goals and a bit of presence to the side.

I would have said he was much better in the 2nd half, and poor in 1st half, with the ball bouncing off him, and subsequently losing confidence and not showing as much as the half progressed.
However if he scores sooner rather than later, it could (hopefully) prove to be a turning point, as our forward line appears to be the weak link to me at the moment.

We are too quick to criticise our players
Madine Nuttall Gnando and Hardie have all been ripped to shreds on various posts.
Whilst none are world beaters they have all been good in patches and are reasonable L1 strikers

And so have quite a few other players, Spearing, Edwards etc, personally l don’t get this OTT criticism it’s little wonder the ball is passed around like a hot potato sometimes.

He was dominated today too easily. Played better when he dropped off and not used as a target man. He’s a bit too slow

Due to circumstances, this is the first time I've had the opportunity to see Madine in a full game. I thought he couldn't possibly be as bad as "Nando" but came away trying to think of a tune. What tune goes with " Gary Madine, wanking machine" ? He was hopeless !!

I thought he was excellent today. Sprayed a fair few passed about to start attacks and hit the bar with a header.

More importantly I feel he stopped the Ipswich momentum toward the end of the first half using his nouse. Fouling and drawing fouls. The kind of player other teams have and we never seem to...

I do not know how he gets on the pitch. He is obviously not match fit. We have strikers at the club who could do a lot better

I thought some of those sprayed passes were really good. As were a couple of little lobbed balls he played when he came deep.

Simply put he’s playing injured. Next season when he’s fully fit he’ll score double figures and be a real headache for defences

I think it;'s all about partnerships - with Gnando I felt he became redundant, with Fonz he is the more attack minded of the two - would he full Gnando's boots next season, I don't know. Certainly, like Fonz a good squad member but am still hoping we get in two fresh strikers (along with Nutts and Hardie) next season.

He did a header that hit the bar. 👍 He holds the ball up well. 👍 But he runs and jumps as if he has arthritis in both ankles -- he's definitely carrying an injury and we're not helping him by putting him on the pitch. A rest might do it, or get him to a specialist.

Now Nuttall's floodgates are unleashed we don't need Madine to sacrifice his fitness for the team.

Three clear cut chances he's had against
Oxford!! Gillingham, where he managed to pass back to the Gills keeper and Ipswich where it was as 20's said easier to score.

Thankfully against Ipswich it didn't matter in the end but the other two misses resulted in Pool losing out on at least 4 points.

If he is carrying an injury then rest him until he's fit as I can't see Blackpool being in a relegation fight anymore. Play Nuttall til the end of the season and the results will be twofold.
Madine will be fit for the new season and the rest of the season will either make or break Nuttall.

With Hardie coming back full of confidence and IF we keep Gnanduillet we'd have 4 strikers where you could play any way you want.

But Rome wasn't built in a day

For some reason we feel the need to slaughter all our strikers instead of encouraging. Quigley last season got terrible abuse, don’t know what he’s up to now🤔😜⚽👍Players need games for general fitness match fitness and confidence.

I thought he did well, unbelievably difficult conditions - I couldn't see Joe being able to handle their two center halves yesterday.

Madine's carrying a knee injury and we have little or no pace upfront so the ball gets passed around hoping to create space to shoot rather than being able to get half a yard through pacy players. Hopefully when Madine is fit he'll find that half yard.
