Mamma's Restaurant review part 2.

I'm not one for going to new restaurants when they open but like to give them time to any teething problems they normally incur.
Bearing that in mind after the average review from a poster on here the other month last night me and the wife decided to give it a go.

The first thing to impress was the decor then met on entry and seated menu's brought to table that where different from online so this is a restaurant which changes the menu regular for fresh ingredients which is a plus for me.
Menu was compact which we both like as many places have too many choices there was a Bambino(kids) and Pizza/Garlic bread section also.
Cocktail & Wine menu a selection of draught beer plenty of spirit choices.

Drinks ordered then food-
Starter-Octopus + Gnocchi with Napoli sausage for me served was hot well presented and both very good my wife struggled to finish her starter as it was a decent portion.

Mains-Sea Bream + Veal + an extra side of truffle & Parmesan fries again very well presented the veal perfectly cooked just off the pink both mains excellent.

Mama's food is fresh so don't expect if your in a rush to be quickly served so allow extra time which was no problem for us and expected with the quality.
The Restaurant is still finding it's feet and will only get better with time and is a welcome edition to Blackpool and highly recommended.

£80 with two drinks each.

Not at all for quality fresh food.
Every restaurant has had to increase prices recently this is no dearer than most places.
I was just looking at mains... just 2 less than 20quid and one is vegan so not great.

Just gazed down to the pasta/rice section however and they're far more reasonably priced. Starters also well priced. Just the mains that stopped me in my tracks!

Paid £28 for a fillet last week at Amaro.
Mamma's is definitely a notch up from them. 👍

Hope they do well but the menu is just limited for me, I like a classic Italian menu, lots of choice. Garlic bread with tomato and chilli, chicken a la cream, chicken in peppercorn sauce etc etc.

Italio does that and is quality, there's so much I'd have off their menu but only a couple of mammas.

Mammas 2 in stannes used to be class.

But that's the idea with a smaller menu there are a couple of things you will have from the menu next time you go it's a different two.

These huge menu's loose their freshness of ingredients and go to any top restaurant the slim them down to give you better quality.

A lot of it im saying not sure what I'd have there, I don't really fancy any of those starters on the menu you posted.

Just doesn't seem what we usually get and the review from Hadley kind of backed that up. People have meals they usually have and expect to have and largely won't be getting the same here.

Maybe its what others like and good luck to them but can't see it appealing to what the masses want.

Italio, ciao ciao for eg, 2 really good Italians have loads I like. If you see their menus it's much better for us and I'd imagine many and you cant knock their food its fantastic.

On the second page I didn't take a photo of was the Garlic bread you like and a whole list of pizza.

The front page was daily specials with cocktail, Pizza, starter(King prawns) main (chicken) dishes.

Ciao Ciao is decent but this place for ingredients is in a different league.

Yes I've been on the website to see the menu.

Just doesn't have a lot I usually get, however there is some and if that turns out better than other places then great. I'd still like to go and try it to see for myself and I do like supporting places, just don't see why adding a few more well loved classics would ruin it.

The online is a sample menu look at the date of the picture it was newly printed last week and is a lot bigger than website.👍

Went to Ciao Ciao last week and enjoyed it hugely more than Mammas but each to their own. These days I settle the bill for everyone ( family) and my 79 year old mum alway chooses the most expensive starter and main like it’s payback time!

Spoke to head waiter on the way out and he agreed that they had a lot of teething problems(when you went)they first set out he used to work at another restaurant in town and recognised us.

Yep and I'm always in the chair to pay even if it's your own birthday.😂
