Man bets inheritance on Liverpool - right or wrong?

A Man Utd fan inherited £55,000 when his mum died in 2017 aged 82 and he put the lot on Liverpool to win the league back in October, at odds of 4/6. When Liverpool were crowned champions he picked up £91,000. My first reaction was good for you mate, but then I pictured this little old lady working all her life to save money so she could provide for her son when she died and I thought what a selfish, disrespectful bxxxxxx.

What do you think? If you don't have any thoughts on this, just have a look at the betting slip. It's worth viewing.

First of all...Ladbrokes( or whatever they are called) take a £55000 bet on a betting slip from presumably a betting shop.So much for the gambling responsibly message we get bombarded with.

Secondly the guy clearly would appear to have a gambling problem and was this time round successful but if he did this then no doubt he’ll try again and hopefully loose the lot.

Thirdly...an armchair( his words apparently) Man U supporter...enough said me thinks.

Totally agree utter scumbags for taking that amount in one bet I bet they didn't even check the bloke out.
Now you know how easy it is to launder money for crooks back favourites and you clean your dirty cash up.

I reckon they did check him out. There is no way they would've taken a bet that size unless they knew he was a sucker.

I have totally no opinion on this one 🤔 how bizarre. Tried to look at it from both the mother and sons side and still can’t decide 🥴

It’s the guys money and his entitlement to do what he wants with it. Immaterial what club he backs and who he may support.
Absolutely nothing to do with anyone on here to make judgements on the guy

Wrong, but if he quits while he is ahead, and puts if to good use then maybe that little old lady would be pleased for him if she could see it all.

He needs to be sensible now.
Next time he might not be so lucky.
Liverpool were about 3/1 before season started - I know, because I considered it. Thought they would do it this year, just like I don’t think they will win it next season.
I might have a sneaky bet on Pool next season, as soon as the odds are out. Won’t be much though. 😬

Not ready the story, but if he was on the bones of his arse before getting the inheritance and then bet it all, then he's just stupid and would have deserved no sympathy or support if he'd lost it all. However, if he was reasonably ok for money and could effectively afford to lose the £55k, then it's a reasonably low-risk bet that has returned a solid profit because of the size of the stake. It's how most professional, high stakes gamblers work. Big punts on low-priced favs.

'Armchair ManU supporter'.
There are probably more of those than any other team has. 🙄
I know 4 without even blinking.
