Manager Shortlist

Im sure the process will begin in earnest today and we will be linked with at least 7-8 credible names aswell as a few off the wall ones. It is imperative they get this right and I am sure there will already be a number of candidates for interview. The ones on the biggest wages are not always the best but to balance that the cheapest options are rarely the best fit also. Personally I hope we get permission to speak to the Cheltenham, Dundee United and MK Dons bosses and any of those would be interesting picks. If Grayson is even considered again then I would be absolutely flabbergasted.

Gary Monk has been out of work as a Manager since 2020. Still only 43. Has he been mentioned?

The man for whom I have greatest respect and admiration, given what he did for us during the boycott years, is Gary Bowyer. He took Pool out of L2, in spite of the Oystons. I’d also ask Thommo to come back as his No2. Those two lads would simply not permit a relegation.

Good god no man. We don’t want Bowyer back, go for new blood unless it’s someone with real clout like Dyche, Mowbray or Warburton.

Let's just go for Marc White from Dorking Wanderers whose taken them from the Crawley and District League in 1999 to the National League (conference) next year. Twelve promotions in 23 years starting the club from scratch. Watch their online youtube videos Dorking Uncovered for entertainment.

Tam Courts seems to suit what we’re after to me (granted I’d only heard of him a couple of days ago from the podcast) taken a relegation favourite up the table with a team of young talent, and not a huge budget

No one wants a dork to replace Critchley.👺

Dundee Utd will be playing in Europe next season so doubtful we could tempt Courts away from that.

When we had a newbie manager Grayson got us to the Championship & he left & we replaced him with a manager who was around the block alot & he got us to the Prem.

Doesn’t have to be a young man, likes of Mowbray and experienced gaffers could still do a good job

Could be De ja vu??

Are they actually in Europe or have to go through the qualifiers? I think that’s a big difference, but who knows, all just speculation

Liam Manning seems to have done especially well in his first season. Not sure many would have seen MK Dons come within one point of automatic promotion. He would probably do for me.
Manning has apparently committed to MKD for another go at promotion, having come so close, rather than go for the QPR job. Would be difficult to prise him away. But I suppose not impossible.

When Mowbray knew he was leaving Blackburn because the owners had blanked him, he seemed more sad that he had nurtured a load of young players who he believed still needed more guidance in the next few years, rather than be upset about himself. Thought that was a good mark of the man.
He was very complimenary about our supporters in the game at Bloomfield Road and always gives credit to the opposition when it's deserved. He's an excellent coach & he comes across as a good man, in the same moulde as Tony Parkes.
I also wouldn't mind Big Dunc getting the job, who Carlo Ancellotti has personally recommended to Rovers.

Before we write anyone off, a reminder of this thread!

The funny thing too is that Inzaghi actually has a decent record as a manager, took Venezia from Serie C to Serie B and almost to Serie A, and got Benevento from Serie B to Serie A, this past season he was at Brescia in Serie B and helped them finish 5th before leaving.

Different country and leagues, but not shabby at all.

Says a lot about the reputation of the club that people like him see it as a project worth putting themselves out for.

plus wasn't Oyston initially reluctant to interview him? Come on Inzhagi, get pestering Sadler to interview you, we'll be in the prem by May.

Interesting list of free managers (some make me shudder!)
