Manchester Seasiders: BIERKELLER on the 18TH

I remember reading a thread on here of a hilarious meet up for the 09/10 playoff 2nd leg with Manchester based Blackpool fans. Even Jeff Stelling rocked up..

So my question is, now I'm Manchester based, what pub we meeting in for the first leg considering it will be mid week? Those who organised last time feel free to take the reigns..

As one of the chief organisers of that night I sadly have to hand the baton over as for the first leg I'll be working (albeit in the City no doubt) and the Fun Police (aka my Duchess) has me away for the weekend of the 2nd leg ...... Although I've already told her we will be watching the match

I'm hoping a Manchester based Pool fan with more longevity than myself can take the reigns as I've only been here a year so my knowledge of decent pubs and all that is limited.

Shame the Duchess will have you locked down!

Don't tell me it's you with the shirt off 😂
😂 no it wasn’t, I’ve just had a few more views and I actually don’t think I’m in that shot at all. Think I’m stage left on the floor. The whole nights a blur after Campbells third so who knows.

I don’t think any of the boys I knew back then are still around Manchester now to even point you in the right direction. Easy to forget it was over a decade ago now. 👴

A decade ago, where has that gone bloody hell.

I appreciate the thought anyway mate, I'm sure I'll figure something out!

Yes that was a cracking night in Joshua Brooks, couldn’t believe my eyes when Stelling walked in. Apparently mates with a pool fan.

Her Majesty requires me else where these days so I’m exiled down south now.

There did used to be a Facebook page Manchester Seasiders. Not sure if it’s still going.
Wasn't Dame (or whatever he became on here) Countdown producer and thus would know Stelling who once presented it?

Jesus there I am in all my glory. 😂😂. Which one though 🤔.

I feel like I may have played football with you Ockers around that time.
That's quite possible. Did you turn up to those five a side games under the Mancy Way ???

As for me, front right in the old white away shirt

That rings a bit true. I spoke with Stelling by the bogs and he said he'd been made aware of a meeting off the internet so o guessed the AVFTT post, but that makes a bit of sense tok

I'd be up for this if anything gets sorted out. There's a few Prem games on Tuesday 18th (if we end up 3rd) and with boozers opening inside the day before it could be a struggle to find somewhere showing us but it would be good not to have to do a mid-week trip home to watch it.

I'm in Chrolton and the Bowling Green is the really the only decent place that tends to have the footy on.

What with work and the Social Secretary dragging us away for the weekend it'll be Final only for me depending on is getting there obviously.

With limited fans going I've already told her I'll be in the boozer and pre empted a group of Pool fans somewhere

Great to log onto AVFTT and see some replies on this, I was gonna wait till the day home/away legs are confirmed and we know the dates and then bump this thread again to try get a pub booked.

As I say, I haven't been in Manchester too long so shouts of pubs is greatly appreciated. I know a few from my personal circle who are interested in coming so if we can decide on a pub prior and then all get booking in as soon as the dates are confirmed that would be brilliant.

Anyone have any idea how early you can get booked into a pub? My concern as well was that if our first leg is on the same day pubs reopen it could be a struggle - the city centre is locationally ideal as I imagine it is central to everyone who lives outside and its easier for everyone to get to as all transport directs there, but the worry is all the pubs in the city centre will be rammed with other football matches being on and such

Fellow Manc here - The Met in Didsbury have an amazing outdoor area with a big screen - could potentially book ahead and see if they'll show it?
I was just thinking The Met on Burton Rd it’s also my local! 👍🏻🍺
Might be a good shout, it is a bit of a hike for me as I live in North Manchester but in terms of getting numbers in and it being away from the city centre - we'll basically take over the pub!

Just gandered and I can get a tram from Victoria Station which drops me off right outside the pub.

I'm jealous guys, but if I get chance for the midweek game I might try and swing by for a bit.

There's a Manchester twitter group with over a hundred following so when you decide which pub I will put it on there. I'll ask Ant Summers if he did a Manchester fb group also, I know he was thinking of setting up travel in the future.

I tweeted the Manchester Seasiders twitter group today actually asking if it still running, great if its still going as I was hoping whoever runs it would be able to get the word out on there once we've decided on a pub!

I tweeted Ant Summers as well as I think I remember him (don't know him personally) bringing the story up on here of the last play-offs, might have that wrong though think he might have said something about starting a Manchester supporters and I've got me wires crossed. I looked and there was no Manchester Seasiders on Facebook unfortunately.

Sorry mate I've not been on it for ages, just text me on 07902 389981 and let me know which pub and then I'll tweet where to meet up. I'll ask MSG,BST and TK to retweet as well.

I'm a bit annoyed cos I watched that game in the Lloyds in Chorlton and was the only Pool fan in there! There was a small gang of Forest fans though, and I enjoyed myself, just lacked the group celebratory thing!

Oh is it you that runs it? Brilliant, I'll get in touch mate definitely once its decided.

I reckon we'll wait till Sunday so we know for sure who we're playing and which days before anything gets set in stone.

Yes good idea. I set up loads of regional ones to bring fans together, the idea was to then hand those groups over to someone who lives there and wants to run it, then I found out twitter won't let me do it so now I'm stuck with them all ffs 😆 I've put a tweet out and tagged you. Would be great if 100 pool fans turned up, the locals faces would be a picture.

Watching that video reminded me of very similar scenes in the Prince of Wales in Victoria in that there London where there must have been a hundred Pool and then a few years later at The Constitution in Pimlico for the Birmingham play off semi. Great times.

What about us Social Media cretins that don't do Twitter 😂

Yep, was there. It was superb.

Are we all going to be crowded round a laptop because no pub can show live sport no?

The play-offs are after the next set of easing of restrictions on May 17th, I can't find anything that says Sport can't be shown. Only thing I've found is hospitality has to ensure their volume isn't so loud that people have to shout to hear each other, increasing the risk of transmission!

Evening all. Koudo is right I've been sort of making plans to start a supporters club over here. I moved to Salford about 18 months ago. Crazy we don't really have a group here.

Having been part of BASIL for 5 years, I want to try and get something similar going here. Travel to games, mini bus or trains. Pool or Darts team midweek at a pub quite central. Easy for everyone to get in to.

The curator at the National Football Museum Jon is a big Blackpool fan. Then you've got my missus Helen, my little boy. I think Luke Hargreaves lives here too. Ian Wareing is in Heaton Mersey too.

We could be going to the home leg if they let fans in. Don't mind Didsbury for the playoff games, would prefer somewhere central though.

I'll start the FB group tonight Koudo.

The Met sounds a good'un but my only concern is that for some people it will be too far out the way. But then the concern with the city centre is that it'll be rammed considering the pubs will have just re-opened and there are Premier League games on (unless someone knows of a hidden gem we could all book into)

If we could find a middle ground that'd be brilliant, as I've mentioned I'm new-ish to Manchester so my knowledge of pubs outside of the obvious ones in the centre is limited at best.

A Manchester based supporters club sounds great to me, definitely up for joining that.

The facebook group is now live. Search for 'Tangerines In Manchester'. Will be shortened to TIM over time haha. Not too bothered about pubs being busy, got used to it down south.

For me, the key to creating a big group is making it accessible. Pubs close to stations and tram stops so we can all have a drink.

Oh yeah I don't mind it being busy I mean in terms of everyone actually being able to get in places, everywhere might be fully booked or heavily booked up with pubs re-opening for the first time. The Met is right on a tram stop (think its where they got the name for the pub) but for many it'll be right out the way.

I'd much rather do the city centre as its central to everyone and more accessible to travel to no matter where you're coming from, but as I say my worry is it might be hard for everyone to get in one pub if the pubs have just reopened. Or maybe not and I'm overthinking it, we could get a shortlist of a few pubs and put it to a vote on twitter and all that - gets the word out then as well.

Someone on twitter just suggested Joshua Brooks, Footage, Blackdog Ballroom or that new O'Sheas behind Picadilly Station. Joshua Brooks was where they did the original Manchester meet up in 2010.

I was at that O'Sheas the other day, they have loads of seats and screens. It'll help when we have the days set in stone of when we're playing as we can check booking availability for places!

Well you've just come up with 4 more suggestions than I have lol. I lived in Stockport for a couple of years so know pubs round there. But Manchester I haven't got a scooby.

Good time to recruit a few disgruntled Man Utd fans! 😀

Whereabouts in Manchester are you mate? If you haven’t already joined the Facebook group please have a look. Will be looking at somewhere to watch the playoffs if were not allowed in. Away leg definitely I imagine.
