Mask wearing % today

I’m working over Preston way (I know, can’t be helped). Popped out at lunchtime to get a snack and went into a small Tescos.

Not a single customer or member of staff was wearing a mask, not one

What have you observed since yesterday? factual answers only

Im not interested in a debate on whether we should wear them or not, in what circumstances or calling other posters nasty names etc......

Just factually what have you observed re mask wearing % and where at?

Tesco yesterday 90% wearing masks, the 10% not were all early 20's and younger.

Today same place only saw one person wearing a mask.

No staff wearing them either.

I'd say higher % of young uns are masking, even outside, which I can't understand but just my observation. Maybe they are more scared to be judged negatively, I don't know. Overall, I'd say 40% masked, 60% not.

Tesco yesterday, most (of a small number) of over 30s masked, a lot of under 30's not.

More worrying no pretence of 2m or even 1m distance being followed by the unmasked.

Sainsburys (town centre) this afternoon.only spotted a few mask wearing customers, and only saw one staff member wearing one. It was quite busy too.

Working yesterday and we are required to wear masks , most customers also were wearing masks, only a handful didn’t. Off today, went to Wetherspoons in Cleveleys this afternoon, didn’t see one staff member wearing a mask, and I would say around 40% or less wearing them.

The barcode scan has gone from the front door as well.

I was in Marks & Spencers food hall and then a massive Tescos yesterday in Royston and in a big Waitrose in Cambridge today and every single person in the shops (busy) including staff were wearing masks and keeping to the 2m distance, every single one. Still have hand sanitisers and still spraying trolleys down.

Can’t believe this has turned into a supermarket brag.

It's what Blood asked so mine is a statement of fact as are the other observations on here. Just because my observations don't make you very happy because you have continually shouted from the rooftops about not wearing masks and think the whole Covid thing is a joke doesn't detract that there are millions of the population who are still concerned about it and will continue to act in a responsible manner whether you like it or not.

I was incredibly stupid when I caught it and have learnt from that but let's just see how Bloods little poll turns out, I think it is actually pretty interesting especially to see the different responses to different areas.

been into town. Houndshill shops staff not wearing masks but some customers were. Most were not. Same in Marks.

Half and half in the shops I go in.
Probably more 80% still wearing them in the office when away from their desk.

96 deaths recorded today, highest since March. Surely if masks are ditched, this is going to get worse.

Sorry, deviated from the o/p

I was working at Argos today, most of our staff had a mask on their person, wearing whilst on shop floor, some customers continued with masks, some didn't, it's very much an optional thing now.

It was a joke calm down. If you can go in Iceland (the freezer place) and Poundstretcher tomorrow to give us a further insight that will be great.

Just to clarify, I think many of the restrictions are a joke and make no sense, but I fully understand that some people are scared and I do respect that. I’ve never said not to be responsible, I just want people to have personal responsibility back.

Basically, if you want to wear a mask, wear one. If you don’t, don’t. If you want to go out, go out, if you’re scared, don’t.

Tesco local on Marton Drive this morning. About 15 people in there including staff. All except 1 young member of staff were wearing a mask. I wore one out of habit I suppose.

Train yesterday about 50% and sweltering. Today I got into an empty carriage and was only going one stop , no mask and opened all the windows and juss stood there. Bliss

I'm certainly not scared to go out, I am off out for my monthly curry night with the blokes tonight, I won't go into Whetherspoons beforehand, I'll meet them in the restaurant, not because of Covid but because it's a shit pub. I will wear a mask in the queues to get into the football and the concourse but not when I'm in my seat. I have loads of gigs coming up and won't wear a mask inside just because it will be too uncomfortable but I am uneasy about that. It is personal choice and your comments about Iceland and thee pound shop, although, and I am not joking, we don't have pound shops here, then I think there could be a difference, but we are talking more social classes here and I think that's a tricky subject to broach on here. I will continue to wear a mask in supermarkets and shops though and may continue even if we are rid of it completely, same goes for public transport although I rarely go into London these days and well prior to Covid because of the crowded trains and loads of people coughing and spluttering everywhere, it's disgusting.

Caught a train out of Manchester yesterday. At Preston the great unwashed from Scotland boarded. All carriages were standing room only, no ventilation and like the dungeon in the Armfield. About 30% mask wearing.

No change in Wales still can't go to the bar and everyone is wearing masks

Oh and rates have never been higher
That doesn’t mean that masks aren’t helping, though.
It is what is it is, now, though. Personally I think we’re going to be overrun by it very soon. But we do need to open everything up, so hopefully those that catch it have lesser symptoms now.

The issue with masks is, that everything we’ve been told says that wearing masks protects others, not the wearers, so those wearing masks because they want to be careful (myself included), aren’t really helping themselves anyway.
It’s a bit of a paradox (if that’s the correct word - I went to Warbreck!)
I will continue to insist anyone getting in the front of my bomber wears a mask, if they refuse then I only take 5.

Went to Asda (Cherry Tree Road) yesterday morning and probably 90% of customers I saw were wearing masks, however didnt see any staff (apart from Security guard) wearing one.
Also noticed more people wearing them walking down the street than Ive seen before, which was a surprise.

Going forward, I will be wearing one in enclosed spaces for the foreseeable, as I need to be careful for the wife, who has a serious lung condition and asthma !!

I see some people can’t respect the OP and still have to have a “judgement call”

I would say that in this very small gathering of info that it’s about 50/50 mask wearing from a former 100/0 within a day of not being compulsory.
Also it may be that in more well to do areas (perhaps older populations?) mask wearing is more prevalent than in less well off areas

Interesting

I think that's a pretty fair assessment. Be interesting to ask again in a couple of weeks.

Currently down in Norwich, I would say in the 4 shops I went in yesterday 80% of customers wearing them but less staff. Today more like 60%.

Are we judging this on mask wearing inside alone?
I thought the scientists said the chance of catching it outside were incredibly minimal?

Bout 80-20 in Guildford in the mask wearing camp.
Based on M&S I hasten to add.
Primarni is probably full of non mask wearing Rebels :)

About 90% in Tescos, and about the same if not higher in our shop. Staff 100% bar those with exemption lanyards. And it is the busiest it has been for decades in the village, mostly Scots, a few from Englandshire

Went to Asda in Morecambe yesterday, was about 80/20.

Nipped to Sainsbury's in Lancaster earlier, was about 70/30

(mask/non-mask)

Went to the pub in N.Yorkshire today. Customers including me wearing masks to go up to the bar, but no members of staff wearing them.

As I have said in a different thread, I am really ill at the moment. So going out is totally out of the question. But if I would have been well today I would have wore a mask. Why ?. I have read the news.

Been to our local for the reintroduction of the quiz night after an 18 month hiatus.

Most coming in were mask wearing until seated. Once in, no one wore a mask picking up drinks, going to the loo etc.

Pure theatre then?
