Look at the daily death rates and people in ICU last December and January, before the vaccine roll-out had really got going...and compare them to now. Coincidence that they're 10 times lower???... I don't think so!
I must admit mask wearing probably makes little to no difference, but it's about respect for others...and actually giving a toss...imo.
Just been in Spoons at Poulton and hardly any fecker was wearing a mask, despite it being fairly busy. Yes I know they're not compulsory in pubs(yet!)...but does Covid know the difference between a shop, public transport and a pub? 🤔 Yes wearing a mask can be a bit of a pain at times, but that's probably cos we're not really used to wearing them. Japanese and Chinese tourists have been wearing them for donkey's years(not Covid related admittedly) and we've all taken the piss! Well as that king of arseholes, Nigel Farage, once said...'you're not laughing now are you?!' 😏

Actually I beg to differ there mate. I read a stat recently that said more people died on the roads in 1960 than do these days! In 1960 5m cars were on the roads, today it's 33m(and rising) and our population is bigger. Seatbelts didn't become mandatory in new cars until 1964...

I don't think it says what you think at all.
The graphic shows clearly that masks do actually provide some level of protection, i.e. you are about 15% less likely to be infected if you wear a mask according to this (1.8 / 2.1 ~= .85). That means that with masks worn by all in the conditions of the trial, there would be 15% fewer cases assuming no mask wearing - which translates to a hell of a lot in a large population (15% of the current 40,000 a day is 6,000 fewer cases a day).
This means a lower R number and the likelihood of restrictions being lifted earlier.

Sorry got the wrong end of the stick! 😚. I don't see what the big deal is about putting on a face mask tbh! 🤷‍♂️. It's not about impinging on your human rights, or the government being controlling,its about RESPECT...imo. In a place like China you wouldn't have any choice in the matter at all. You'd be marched back to your house or apartment at the barrel of a gun, and locked in! People need to get real(imo). Actually in situations like this it's maybe better to have an authoritarian, one Party State, because in Democratic countries there's some who just take the piss! 🤷‍♂️. I'm certainly no Tory...never voted for them in over 40 years of being eligible to vote(and probably never will!) but I do have a little bit of sympathy with them here...they're between a rock and a hard place imo😏

But seriously if anything it's surely worse for mask data now, as initially it was thought to spread via coughing and sneezing with relatively large droplets that can be caught somewhat by masks.

Now we know its largely via breathing so aerosols with much smaller particles, the masks should be even worse off now than they were then.

Now if someone gets a top class mask it can have some impact but id guess 99% of people probably wear cloth or paper shite and don't wear them right etc.

All a bit of a waste of time really.

How many have thrown away a paper mask after use, I didn't i used the same one loads or washed their cloth mask?

Plus were meant to be living with the virus.

The governments' new mask directive was allegedly sponsored by Amazon in association with Facebook, and Google. To ensure that the high st loses even more money due to the pandemic. The fact Boris was filmed walking through a hospital without a mask tells everyone all they need to know about the effectiveness of paper masks.
 
Without trawling through the thread, has anyone posted any factual information ( that isn’t spouted from a bullshit media source) regarding this new so called killer variant ?

Yeh that’s exactly it isn’t it. Nothing to do with natural immunity or assessing the risk themselves, they must be scared eh?!

In contrast to grown adults who are scared of a virus with an average age of deaths at 83 who are queuing up for the booster despite being able to catch and in most cases already caught the virus even with the jabs.

More jabs than Floyd Mayweather, yet the only people still scared of the virus are fully (hang on this is now debatable as to when their subscription ends) vaccinated, these are also the people wanting to mask up.

Work out the logic on that because it’s baffling.

Did I think I might be in danger From these selfish individuals, nope!! you see most people are just fed up of constant crap, i thought we were supposed to be back to normal from last June 😯 anyone know the flu figures?

Without lockdown measures most of the population would've got it, with a 1% mortality rate that's going to work out at about 650,000 dead.

If you think I'm making this up, according to excess mortality 0.75% of the entire population of Bulgaria has perished as a result of the pandemic, that's with containment measures and would work out at almost exactly 500,000 for the UK.

Actually, in reality, without lockdown measures there's a good chance the NHS would've collapsed, without treatment that mortality rate is going to be more like 2% - 3%, so you're looking at perhaps 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 dead in a worse case scenario.

But apparently it's not a very dangerous virus, we didn't need lockdown, or masks, or anything at all.

The whole world was made to believe that if they get vaccinated, they'll be free and back to normal.

Instead, countries are now locking down after a good vaccine uptake & we’ve got mass hysteria and more restrictions over a new variant that at its worse apparently gives you a headache and achy muscles 🤣🙈

It's been a total and utter scam all the way through.

I’m just hedging my bets, by having the injections I stand a better chance of making it to 83, when I get to 75 I’ll probably start going to Church to make sure I get the right set of gates after COVID gets me!
