Massive week for NC & BFC

I can't help thinking that this week is a massive one for us. Home games against Charlton & MK Dons will define our season. Two wins and we can all stop panicking and look forward with optimism for the remainder of the season. Two defeats and it looks bleak and a massive re-think may be necessary.

In a bizarre kind of way, I hope it is one of the extremes rather than two draws which leaves us in a bit of limbo.

Come on NC & BFC, let's have those 2 wins.

We'll probably get two draws 😂

They're important games, but I still honestly won't be panicking if they don't go our way.

I strongly suspect we will lose both games because the goals just aren’t in the side when CJ is marked out of the game and we either go with our current ball watching centre backs or put new lads in who will need time to gel so we will keep leaking preventable goals.

Don't really see it that way. It will take arguably 2/ 3 or so weeks until everyone is available and up to speed . Let's see how we shape up then.

Totally agree Fess. I know a lot of fans are upset with results so far, but I’m not even starting to judge for another 2-3 weeks.

You've pointed out yourself how ridiculous that scenario is:
2 wins and everything will be great.
2 defeats and we'll have to have a rethink.

In reality, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Massive week - yes.
Decisive - no.

No it isn't. Why are folk so dramatic, patience .

I think the time to panic is this time in 2 years when we are near the bottom of the National League.

Until that time I shall clap my hands wildly and defend the manager whatever the result.

It's always a big week when a club has 2 home games. If the first one is lost it puts alot of pressure on the second one which quite often ends up in a draw. That leads to massive pressure on the next away game.
I'll be happy if Pool can take 4 points out of 6 next week given that we don't create many chances, score many goals and normally let a soft goal or two in. It won't be easy with confidence far from sky high, but fingers crossed a couple of our new players significantly improve the team.

Even if we lose both games 5.0 the board will stick with him and so they should

The club have gone all in on NC and its a massive gamble

Need to have the courage of their convictions and stick with the process

I’m pretty sure 10 games of relegation form would prompt a discussion, 15 an ultimatum and 20 the sack. Critch will have it turned around by 15 games I think but he will be under pressure after 10 without three home wins on the board.

I totally agree that we shouldn't be panicking, and also agree that a manager needs at least 15 games into a season to be judged. We have played a lot of the better teams already. Why I think it is so important is that these are games against the lower teams, so should give us a guide about how we will be doing. I think we all agree that the football is better to watch under NC than it was with Larry, but wins are needed, as much to increase confidence.

On another point, I wonder if the pressure is better or worse with no crowd? I also wonder if some players play better with the crowd egging them on. Interesting that CJ's best game came with the crowd cheering his every move.

Not sure

I'm of the opinion that NC really sold his ideals on the board

Even Mansford talked about a 'Blackpool way'

He's got plenty of time

I think you’re right Phil, but it wouldn’t make sense for the board to allow him to be too comfortable if the form resembles relegation. They’d be mad not to at least place the stick on the table even if they don’t intend to wave it or indeed use it.

I wouldn't expect to see Critchley get the bullet unless we are in serious danger of getting relegated. Surely they would have half expected a slow/ inconsistent start when they appointed him. I have every faith he can turn this form around and so should the board. They will lose the confidence of the fans when it comes to decision making if they keep sacking managers after 6 months.

I'd agree with the first point about two wins. 6 points takes us to 10 points from a possible 24 - still below the 50% mark where you need to be (get 50% and you are on 69 points and a good shout of the Play Offs) but good progress. Two defeats and I think we'd be back to thinking about a consolidation and building season where we'll see mistakes but also signs we're going in the right direction.
