Matty Virtue | Charlton Reaction "It was one of my better ones, probably."

I'd say Dougall is the better overall option but interesting how neither player were around at the start of the season when Robson and Anderson were getting games and where are they now?

What surprised me about Virtue is that he is only 23, two years younger than Kaikai, so still plenty of room for development.
He also looks much stronger physically compared to twelve months ago.

Virtue is a very good player for Lge1. 👍
Virtue has a very good shot for league 1.

Said this many times, he’s got that ability to get in great positions and strike a hard, accurate shot.
Unfortunately there are other aspects of his game that aren’t quite as good.
Perhaps in a couple of years he will have a more rounded game, but the fact remains that he scores from midfield, and no amount of Tiki Taka will get you goals, someone needs to take it on. Matty does that! 🍊

The jury came back and said every team set up like ours needs one player who can make runs into space from deep and unload a pile driver. Play him.

I liked him last season, he is a proper central midfielder - gets stuck in going forward and defending. Said the same on the match day thread but we don't need two defensive midfielders in the starting XI, Stewart/Dougall could do the job on their own and allow a midfielder like Virtue the ability to get forward and contribute like he did yesterday!

A lot of our players seem a bit jittery in interviews whereas Virtue seemed quite confident there, reckon you get interview training whilst coming through the ranks at Liverpool? I know its something United do, media training so to speak

He has to play in central midfield, he is the only central midfield player we have that gets into goalscoring positions, but I hope Critchley doesn't play him wide right again.

Besides the goal he didn’t do much yesterday in my opinion. Gave the ball away quite a lot and put us under pressure a couple of times in the first half. He took his goal well, but when he’s back fit Keshi is a much better option for the offensive central midfield slot.

Played better and took his goal really well but he certainly lacks pace and needs to improve to win me over...I hope he does as he has the right attitude
