Apologies if this has been previously posted but here is an interesting NYT article (Dec29, 2016 )about Kurmanbek Bakiyev, whose son Maxim who features in "How not to run a Football Club" by Nathan Fogg. Given the current climate with Russian oligarchs in London, Maxim Bakiyev is alleged to have business connections to Valeri Belokon.

Very concerning guy (MB). Was Deputy Chairman of Kimmel's beer co when VB first jumped into bed with OO. As for VB, he's washed cash for the Russian state and Mexican cartels. Ironically enough, I guess we've the EFL owners and directors test to thank for him not getting the full-time owner's gig here. Could have been in a right pickle as Chelsea now are.

It does make my chuckle how the O's tried to shaft him. They've got balls or extremely thick, I'd have been afraid of the concrete overcoat. Do not mess with Eastern Europeans they are not to be messed with.

Zero balls from our trust calling this guy or VB out. Undermines their schtick. Oh well.

Kyrgyzstan isn’t Russia

It seems possible (perhaps even probable) that Maxim Bakiyev was a silent partner with Belekon when he was involved with BFC. According to Fogg, loans to Belekon taken from a joint Belekon / Bakiyev company exactly match the amounts that were used (first) to buy a 50% share of BFC and then to finance the South Stand development. The timing matches exactly as well. The club may have been used as a sort of laundromat to wash money from Krygyzstan. This was the most interesting revelation in the book IMO.
