Maxwell and game management

I'm not sure of Maxwell as his hesitancy and flapping at crosses worries me; but he's a master at killing time.

I said to my boys last night after our first goal, it's going to a masterclass of time wasting and it was.

His time of possession must be higher than all the outfield players given how long he takes to do anything when we are winning. He's very good at it and if we had fans in the ground, the opposition fans would be going crackers.

We're good at the dark arts of the game and I like it!

Keepers do tend to be the best at it, probably because they have more opportunity for it with goal kicks and taking as long as possible to get it back out after collecting it.

I remember Gilks capitalising on the Birmingham fans frustration at the play-off 2nd leg, they were throwing things onto the pitch - they weren't particularly going anywhere near him but he started protesting about it to waste time. Sending the Brummies into an even bigger frenzy!

Maxwell has developed a “time wasting walk” which is slower than a proper walk. Very inventive!

He' has a few times also played the ball quickly and set us on the counter, I was thinking at the time why play it quick when 1-0 up and the we scored.
