Just looked at the goals again from the last 3 games and he just seems to get nowhere near anything. I would be interested to see his save to shot percentage. I worry about our keepers in general as there is no backup and I think we are going to concede every time the opposition have a shot. Real problems to sort out and I would be surprised if NC makes it past 10-15 games. Was a mistake to let the likes of spearing, fonz, Edwards, feeney etc to go and replace them with league 2 players or kids. For me matty virtue should walk back into this midfield as ward and Anderson are just so poor. They are not defensive minded and can't pick out an incisive pass so what are they actually there for? Gonna be a long old season.
 
Maxwell has gone downhill since he was made Captain.
Letting Spearing go was a huge mistake.

I still believe that Critchley will get it right - he needs time.
 
I agree Virtue if he can get fit should be in the side straight away. Maxwell looks to be struggling in the last couple of games, but I tend to put that down to keeping behind a nervy and slightly panicky defence, it's tough for a keeper to look good, especially when he's not the tallest and we look so fragile from crosses, corners etc. He looked good at the end of last season, pre-season and even the first couple of games and I think he was a decent keeper for some rank average championship side in the past, so I don't for one second think he's not good enough for league 1.
 
Can you imagine the outcry on here if he drops Maxwell and the new kid spills one.
 
I preferred Alnwick and said so at the time. Alnwick commands his area better, and is a fantastic chit stopper. Looks like NC prefers Maxwell as he can pick a pass. That's not a keeper for me. Anyway, choice is made so we move on.

Dont agree with Maxwell picking a pass. Hes very nervy with his feet.
 
I would have Virtue (if fit) and Robson sat deeper and one other (of Anderson, Ward, Sarkic, Kaikai) pushed closer to the centre forward - probably Sarkic at the moment if Kaikai is out for the foreseeable. Mitchell and CJ on the wings.

Regarding Maxwell, I know Howard wasn't great back up when he played following his injury, but I do wonder if we miss having someone of his experience in and around the team (not necessarily on the pitch)
 
Never like it when a keeper is captain. The obvious choice at the moment is Maxwell.
Nobody should be above being dropped. I’d play the ex United lad. Sims was on the bench, yet he should be 3rd choice.
 
Said in the summer I would have preferred Alnwick but that Maxwell is also decent.

However yesterday he had a shocker and should have stopped the 2nd & 3rd goals.
 
Yesterday was just poor all over the pitch...Why have a full back playing at CB when a CB is on the bench?? 4-3-3 simply isn't working..I think Yates & Madine as a front 2 would work better...Hopefully the new CBs can feature away to Crewe and Virtue can make an appearance....Another striker in transfer market would come in handy aswell...Onwards & upwards!!
 
Big mistake letting Alnwick go. Always thought he was decent. What's happened to the other ex man u keeper? Never even on bench? Why?

I agree it's the least of our problems as the whole team seems weak but apart the first which was a great strike, 2 out of the other 3 goals just seem to go past him in the corner in slow motion. I feel Howard, Alnwick and even maffoumbi would have got to them. A solid team starts with a solid keeper.

Our spine is poor
NC wont last 15 games
 
United lad not even on the bench. I’d have him over Sims every time. Surprised NC favours Sims tbh after the Liverpool 2nd half drubbing.

I might be wrong but don’t they have to have an academy player in the team, and they use Sims as the likelihood of a goalkeeper being needed is slim?

i agree he was at fault for at least one of the goals yesterday but I feel a bit sorry for him at the moment, or would help if the defence gave him a bit of cover.

Although I would prefer a taller keeper, I do think Maxwell is capahle enough at this level. The lack of a decent defence iscmak8ng him look worse than he is

As part of the goalkeepers union, I have to say Maxwell is a decent keeper.

However, for what its worth, he lacks presence in the box and tends to be quite 'static' getting down to shots.
 
Alnwick is and was the better of the two.
NC had a 1 in 2 chance of getting it right and didn't.
Anyone who watched the first half of last season could have told him. Poor advice or just got it wrong ?

Spearing, Fonz & Feeney are all playing in League 2 this season! Who is Edwards?
 
The first goal was a good strike but only because no-one picked him up and he was allowed to run on his own to that position and hit the ball unchallenged.
 
I seem to remember from the brief time we saw him, Foticek improved a lot after the mistake.
What’s the update on his injury? Anyone know?
