MCLF Match blog: Lincoln City vs the Mighty

A very good summary.
I think realistically we should have been happy with a point before the match (Lincoln has never been a happy hunting ground) but when we went 2 up we looked so far ahead of Lincoln I was thinking it was time to give Eky some minutes on the pitch and give Brad his debut.
My biggest criticism of Critch has been his use of subs and I'm not sure he got them right today.
I wouldn't have taken Simms off but I might have changed things a bit earlier to combat Lincoln's fresh legs.
Accy on Tuesday won't be easy because we are always their Cup Final.
A draw today keeps us grounded and hopefully makes Jerry angry that he missed a couple of chances.

Yeah, i think that's a good point - any complacency should have been well knocked out of us by that.

Another fine write up. We still need to add ruthlessness to the mix and I hope we find it by the time the play offs loom into view 🧡👍

Another who enjoyed the write up, but at the time of the subs, I'm not sure we had any other options. Simms seemed to get a knock just before he came off. Maybe that should have been Gabriel coming on then. Embleton was running on empty when he came off too.

Indeed. I just wonder if we need an entire classy back four on the bench and, as we're genuinely short of attacking/midfield players if it wouldn't be useful to have Nathan Shaw on there

I think of we had a full squad, all up to speed and in sync, we could have changed both the rb and lb, so later in the game when we tired, change Turton for Gabriel and Garbutt for Husband.

As long as they got upto speed the fresh legs would likely close down any crosses better.

Also could change a few in midfield, maybe Embleton for Stewart, could have put further fresh legs on there like Virtue or maybe Shaw for KaiKai.

Also then could change one up top to have fresh pressing maybe take Simms off for CJ or Madine or Anderson.

If only we had those options.

Those last 15 mins where we sit back and tired could have been largely circumvented and with fresh legs I doubt they would have scored 2 back.

Its the main worry for me the lack of options still.

Still should have seen it out yesterday.
