MCLF - Match blog - Reading vs the Mighty

“but something he says really sticks in my head when he comments that 'Reading left players up - they didn't need to worry about the outcome' as if that was cheating or some kind of dark art.”

Sums him up perfectly. What a boring man.

Thanks Matt for another hugely entertaining season of blogs, your stuff is one of the highlights of being a Pool fan in the modern era, for me! You turn the pain and the joy of it all into words and it's a fine skill to have and you are so generous to share your thoughts and enthusiasm with us all each week. You keep a splendid balance too, you never seek to trash people, or let frustration turn into attacking people, as far too many people do in my opinion. Another disappointing season on the field of play, but another season of excellence on Mitch Cook's Left Foot. Well played sir. 🤟

Aw, fanks.

It's a thin line between 'inflict' and 'share' 🤣

Well said Voyeur, I'd very much like to second that 👍

Thanks for this and your efforts during the season. Always a great read. I actually enjoyed your description of your your nature ramble. I could imagine myself in the same situation spitting feathers.

Spot on, as always. I love reading your blogs. As others have said, you manage to keep a balance, the humour keeps us going and you always manage to articulate what most of us are feeling- win, lose or draw- without resorting to abusing individuals.
Thanks for making a very strange season feel a bit better. 🍊

Thanks Matt. It’s been a horrible mediocre frustrating season but your blogs have been a consistent highlight. We are very lucky to have you to chronicle our ups and mostly downs. You are a fantastic writer.

It's a "One Big Thank You" from me as well. I don't know how you remember the detail to put it into words later but you do and you do it superbly.
3 sentences resonate with me;
"They're just not the right blend. There isn't enough there. It's not their fault individually."
That sums it up for me along with Cautious Critch's lack of bravery.
As for your stay in the Travel Lodge, "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave".
Enjoy your Summer.
PS
I watched Rob Apter yesterday afternoon. Tranmere were awful and Rob was anonymous. ☹️

Thanks Matt. A quality end to one of the plus points of this dismal season - your blogs. Things could have been worse I suppose -
Can you imagine having to sing 'going down the Select Car Leasing Stadium to see the Blackpool aces'?

Let's hope next season brings the fire. I look forward to your blog from our pre-season tour of minor Scottish ex- mining towns 👍

What a tremendous idea. Like Ollie's tour of small Devon/Somerset clubs but with none of the sunshine, flair and madness.
