MCLF Match Blog: Rochdale vs the Mighty

Another fine read. Suitably surreal here:
"I imagine Chissy training Brett to say 'pieces of 8'

Then I imagine me getting a real parrot and training it to say stuff Chissy would say. 'Once of this parish' 'We wish him well' 'Terrible from Kaikai' and so on. How would I explain this to people (i.e. most normal people) who didn't know who Chissy was? They'd think I was mentally ill. Maybe this year and this blog is taking it's toll on me and I am".

Only on AVFTT. Only through the bizarre medium of IFollow. More twists and turns (and graphs) to come methinks in the season Covid couldn't kill 🏝️ 🏝️ 👍

It's as you say. Different players, different manager but we still don't beat the Bloody Rochdale jinx. (It's even the same for the u/18s)
Just to warn people we don't do that well against Shrewsbury either.

I was thinking the same.

Usually when we lose, I get a little riled and look to find a scapegoat but we just never got going and didn't deserve to win. A collective off night where the season had caught up with them.

If I were Critch there would be no training today, just relaxation and recharging.

We need to recalibrate and start again on Saturday. One big final effort before the season comes down to a mad three games, hopefully.

What do people think about employing some kind of pagan/black magic/shamanic ritual/voodoo/spell kind of strategy to try and lift whatever hex there is.

You are right, Shrewsbury are one of those sides I struggle to find a good memory against and whom we often just seem struck by some sort of collective lethargy when playing.

What can we do?

Was it Barry Fry at Birmingham who went round all 4 corner flags at St Andrews and pissed on them to break a hoodoo? Anyone near Bloomfield Rd with a full bladder?

I was hoping you could get us another insight?
It might be along the lines of putting the players on the bus on Friday and telling them its P'boro at London Rd on Saturday.

I'll have see what the wind blows my way. Or not.
