MCLF Match blog: the Mighty vs Leeds u21

Me before game 'I'm not watching this, boycott u21 teams'

Me 5 minutes before kick off 'fuck it'

Thanks once again for being so eloquent in expressing what I was thinking. Glad you changed your mind🤣

I knew you would, as I also did, normally don’t give much credence to these sort of games but as you say ‘There are no alternatives’ I actually can’t stand the way Sue Perkins walks! as for Brett I could easily have seen him luxuriating in his Twirl bar as he pulled up his comfy chair to watch the Antiques Road Show along side the Royle Family! Bliss.

Yeah! Her walk IS really irritating now you mention it 😂

Brett's story of how he bought a flash sports car but then hated driving it cos he felt like a right knobhead (his words) is one of my favourite footballer stories ever. I'm sure the coda was he went and bought a mondeo or something instead.

He'd enjoy the twirl, telly on, exactly as you say and treat himself to an extra bar on the fire. Lovely stuff

Loved your description of Brett.
I'm glad you decided to watch tonight.
Get on your high horse about u/21s if you want but don't blame it on the players on the pitch who want to entertain you for a cause that doesn't compare with what we have had to fight for. We are back so lets not waste it.
In normal times I'd have been there in the flesh because that's what Blackpool fans do.

tbh, I'm surprised it's taken 94 articles for the Trabant to get a mention...

Indeed. I think the Trabant lacks the attention it rightfully deserves within the sporting media.
I see it as perhaps the vehicular equivalent of Phil Clarkson.
Quite productive, fairly functional, but totally lacking in style.

That back heel tho...

A very accurate report combined with astute insights - like the only way to describe Howe's movement is 'galloping'! I also liked the way you described the joy of Rob Apter's debut. Thank you. 😍

Absolutely, that backheel. The exception that proves the rule.
Maybe the Trabant has the equivalent of the single backheel.
Perhaps there is one function on a Trabant that is outstanding that we don’t appreciate. A self emptying ashtray perhaps, or a beautifully formed inside door handle.

Phil Clarkson - Over Wyre's finest, ghost writing motoring articles in his spare time.
(See what I did there?)

It could be a winning combo alright - the dynamic duo on commentary, a feed that looks like one of your Grandad's old cine films (obviously not THAT one you found on top of the wardrobe one time), and a td53 "blogalong" 🏝️ 🤸‍♀️🎾🧡🤣😂
