MCLF match blog: the Mighty vs Millwall

Lovely stuff. Pleased to see Bowler's dazzling "Raven on the Wing" moments getting an honourable mention, along with the sublime and telling (dare I say, matchwinning?) touch of the undervalued the big lad up front 🏝️ 📈 👍

I reckon there are no Ls in Miwaww.
I've really thought about this. I think there's definitely ells but they're buried under the doubleyous.

It's almost as if you are saying w and l at the same time with two different parts of your mouth. The w is definitely dominant, but the l is there.

I think the English written language is inadequate to express it.

My ears don't pick up the Ls. I think you imagine the Ls cos you expect them but a sonic device would fail to register them. Like my ears.

We have two great wide options in CJ and Bowler but we just don't play them in often enough. When they get on the ball and run it's worth the admission fee on its own. I'm with voy on the Mwaww as well😉

I thought CJ was hopeless? League 2 player with no football technique or brain?

If you take the Hartlepool game in isolation, the same fans slagging him would have been saying how good he was if Lavery hadn't missed two sitters from his crosses, and he hadn't sidefooted wide from 3 yards out. Fine margins. Similarly, if his run and blocked shot hadn't resulted in a goal yesterday, the 'constructive criticism' would have been torrential.

I think if one were satirical presenting the cockernee accent then omitted the L's would be a suitable tactic. It does capture the essence well.

However, as a dedicated serious journal of truth and nothing less, MCLF has to go further and look beyond a 2 dimensional approach. I'm not writing about the essence, but trying to capture the whole.

(Alternative answer, yeah, you're probs right)

Thanks for that, as always pretty much as I saw it, specifically Sterling and Bowler.
Gary certainly had a tough time against their enormous CB but he was just "Another brick in the wall" 🎶🎶

Who scored still has him down as winning 10 aerial duels though. Which, tbh, surprised me.

Are you accusing me of caricaturing the cockernee accent?!

This can be resolved with the use of sonograms, which are now routinely used to identify birdsong etc indiscernible to the human ear. In your position as a respected author and topic level expert commentator I'm surprised you have not bought in this technology. I mean, who can forget the Venn diagrams from last year, ground-breaking stuff. Youve come so far, don't let your public down now, please. 🏖🌈👍

I'm saying that a man who steadfastly didn't recognise the talents of Gaz Maz may want to look again at tbe details of the thing before declaring their view...

🤣

(I'm grimming like a cheeky monkey as I post this)

The limited talents that took an age to blossom into something meaningful. I think you mean. ;) 🤣

Just tbe moment that won the game is all. 👍
I mean he wasn't up to much during the period of time when I was on his case. 👍

Good to see Sean and the other fella on the pod saying similar things a couple of nights ago. 🤠

3 points, enjoyed it. Good to see a bit of fight and all that. Enjoy Sunday.
Brilliant as usual td but the references to threatening seagulls, pistachios, pink floyd , and speech bubbles were the icing on the cake for me, I also enjoyed the use of the words yikes & lax, I’ll admit that at one point I was concerned that the love you have for the goal machine was diminishing but you brought it back nicely & I’m pretty sure Gary will appreciate it
