MCLF: Match blog - the Mighty vs Portsmouth

I'll be honest, I felt as confident as I have in a long time watching us that we'd see that out. Couple of minor scares late on but nothing major.

Odd really considering what a kick in the nuts throwing it away at donny felt last week, but the game tonight felt like 1 goal was going to win it from early on and that proved to be the case.

Reckon tonight would have been a cracking atmosphere with the fans in

Found that really nervy but on reflection, a cracking performance.

Have grand evening and all that.
Strangely enough, I felt quite calm once we'd scored as they created nothing of note off their own bat all night. Onwards and upwards. 6 points off the playoffs with a game in hand.

Last 10 mins yes, but the longer it went at 0-0 I thought, ** hell, Critch is going to sit on his hands, they made the subs and so many times we've seen their manager do him over, but tonight, he got his reward. I think once we'd scored, I felt fairly confident, I just kept waiting for them to turn up up until then, but they didn't!

Yes, as above, after they'd scored I was fairly sanguine - it was up to that point, we were doing fine, I just expected them to score two headers in 2 minutes or something.

Good stuff as ever.
I probably was the least nervy I've been at the end of a match for a while though.
I agree also about a replacement for Goal Machine so I've just written to Father Christmas and asked if we can have Armand back, after all nobody's on the naughty list this Christmas (not even Hubby, Turts or Joe Nuttall).

True enough. Its what we historically do. That's why I find it strange to see us running down the clock as we've never been able to do it. Madine and Kaikai were great at it, keeping it at the right end of the island, paddock, real estate, playing surface, pitch.

😂

The ref books Marquis for throwing himself on the ground on the edge of the box as Pompey swarm, trying to make an angle for an effort.
Maybe this is where our luck is changing as well .. that would have been a stonewall free kick for them earlier in the season.

Kaikai's commitment to not taking the throw-in was exemplary. He went up in my estimation - I haven't seen that level of desire for three points from him before.
