Thanks for that I really enjoyed the read ( as always) - I couldn’t agree more. #UTMPhttps://mclfoot.blogspot.com/2025/07/so-farso-good.html

Please stop writing good stuff, with more than a soupçon of fact about it. That isn’t, as you know, what this board is about.https://mclfoot.blogspot.com/2025/07/so-farso-good.html

Don't mention that name Allardarse !!Agree with what's written as is so often the case. We need a few more pieces for the jigsaw and the feel is more that of Allardyce 94/6 than Critchley v1 or King Billy, but already it feels like an exciting season in prospect. Bolster the full backs and that wide left position, land that second keeper and we're as strong as anyone out there.
Again, thank you td, I enjoyed reading that. I thought your supermarket analogy was excellent. I'm the guy with a fridge full of out of date crap.

Load of old shite as usual from our very own Poet Lorrydriver. Supermarket shopping!! WTF was that all about?
I was hoping for better this season but it seems like the analogy's are just going to keep on coming and I will have to read these blogs just so I can have a good rant on here and expose him as the frilly shirted Byron wannabe that he is! And as for the I'm into something good" finale; next time I see you I am going to have to poke my finger in your eye!!!
The one thing about the players we've signed so far, is few of them will attract much at the end of their contracts and I think it's important we stock the cupboards for the next 2 or 3 years and ensure we have the assets developing to fund the next rebuild.
Can you be more specific about the type of rice and how that blends in to the squad?I like to think Jordan Brown is a nice big bag of rice.
Brown. Gritty. Can you be more specific about the type of rice and how that blends in to the squad?

Let's not forget you're comparing different times in the season.Last Season. Next Season
Tyrer,......................... Ravizzoli
Offiah,........................Lyons
Hubby/Coul...............Hubby/Coul
Casey.........................Casey
Penn/Hubb/Bagg..... Horsfall
Evans.........................Brown
Morgan,.................... Morgan
Carey ............... ..... Honeyman
Apter..........................Apter/Bloxham
Fletcher..................... Fletcher
Ennis..........................Ennis
Is the starting XI better? Not sure. On paper. But we start the season with continuity, and some players should hit the ground running from the start. Fletcher, Ennis and Apter have all established themselves. Horsfall and Honeyman provide some experience and leadership. Ravizzoli isn't a rookie like Tyrer was. Casey has a good L1 season behind him. Morgan also.
We are better placed to start the season with confidence, and we still have loans to come in who might make a significant difference.
Which is what I said, yes.But we should be starting far stronger than we started last season.
I'm just analysing it.Which is what I said, yes.
Lots of variables aren't there, we have good reasons for optimism. It'll come to down to us getting some momentum going, players clicking, getting good partnerships going in defence, midfield and attack. Fletcher and Ennis are a lot of the way there. Being tactically smarter and more flexible than last season maybe. Adapting to the opposition when they are bossing midfield, not just sitting back too deep. Building up confidence. Being much tighter at the back.I'm just analysing it.
Last seasons side alone for the full season would probably be 6 points better off. Then the Bruce absence could have cost a bit so without that we'd probably be on the edge of the playoffs.
The defensive improvements should see us go up a place or 2 again, then if we've improved it overall, which its looking like we are doing, we could be in the hunt for the automatic spots, fingers crossed.
Much stronger bench this season and that’s before others + loans come inLots of variables aren't there, we have good reasons for optimism. What tier's he in at the moment? Out of interest.Just get Gaz Madine back if the above doesn't work.
Sorted.

He should get into parkour or something. Stick it on YouTube to music. He's a free agent.
Like this Voyeur - in some ways our buys have only replaced what was good last season - Offiah, Baggot, Carey and Ennis returning - still think we have a few weak links which stand out as not having been replaced.Last Season. Next Season

Yes I think the signings to come will possibly make or break our season. A serious top end challenge, if we get the tactics right, or floating on the promotion fringes pushing for a play off place, maybe. Two or three quality loans needed.Like this Voyeur - in some ways our buys have only replaced what was good last season - Offiah, Baggot, Carey and Ennis returning - still think we have a few weak links which stand out as not having been replaced.
Offiah spent a lot of the season at CH as well, so where does Ikiewhe fit in and who does he replace?Last Season. Next Season

I think Evans starts too, was just putting the new boy in. Will new boy get in?Offiah spent a lot of the season at CH as well, so where does Ikiewhe fit in and who does he replace?
I also think Evans starts. He's captain and was our best player up to and beyond Christmas.
I don't think Evans or Morgan will lose out to him, if they're fit. Could be wrong.Brown has to start surely.
Yes that's what he's been brought in for, but who gives way? I'm not sure he's good enough to displace Evans and Morgan? And I like those two, both good players when fit and firing.Brown is going to be the workhorse in the middle of the pitch so, that's why I put him in, a game of opinions and glad to see everyone's thoughts on this, what football is all about.
I would have Evans as an impact sub this season tbh.Yes that's what he's been brought in for, but who gives way? I'm not sure he's good enough to displace Evans and Morgan? And I like those two, both good players when fit and firing.
I think Brown will do well to keep Evans out of the side, will be interesting to see how it pans out.I would have Evans as an impact sub this season tbh.

Definitely a good thing having pressure for places in the team. And we could maybe use a three man midfield. That's a good thing .You want a sense that someone is hard done by to not get picked because it means we've got some depth. It really was problem last year that the team picked itself.
I would guess Bruce might do a bit of Horses for courses stuff. Playing a footballing side like Exeter - get Evans in. Playing a set of hard running cloggers - get brown in. He did that same at CB swapping who partnered Casey depending on opposition.
Do agree with you that it would be nice to see a bit of tactical variation as well.

It's so hot here I'm in my front room with the curtains shut watching our away game at Charlton in September. Apter having an excellent game and Jones has subbed their left wing back on 37 minutes. No wonder he'd like to sign Apter. And no wonder Brucey wants to keep him.
Might have to watch that again myself. Drink had been taken on Ashley's boat and many other points in between.Definitely a good thing having pressure for places in the team. And we could maybe use a three man midfield.

I've overcome the limitations of the time continuum. Total freedom, but can be lonely sometimes. It's so hot that you've traveled in time?
