Im only wondering has oneone else experienced this or anyone they know

my uncle, 80 years old is living in a nursing home, heavy enough smoker and was very fond of the drink.

Since October he has a very aggressive rash all over that 4 different antibiotics didnt take away and no cream helps, he’s lost loads of weight since then but hes belly is very swollen

he had an appointment last week with a dermatologist at the hospital and he was actually admitted that day to my surprise, he’s had an iv drip with antibiotics over a week and its not helped in any way with the rash, nothing showed up in his bloods or ultrasound.

He’s to get a CT Weds but if nowt showed in his bloods or ultrasound surely CT will show nothing either

Cant get anything as such with Google searching so I said id ask on here has anyone come across anything like this before
Also to add he has Pulmonary Fibrosis for years but besides his cough and breathlessness the other symptoms doesn’t seem to be linked

I think the only advice I can offer is don't look on Google.
If he's in hospital I'd leave it to the doctors and I hope that it gets sorted quickly and he makes a full recovery.
Your right pal just wondered that someone might have insight with experiencing something like it and the doctor isn’t very forthcoming with information to my mother who’s his next of kin

Shingles? This obviously needs anti-viral medication - no amount of antibiotics will shift that.

See if any of these sound like they match:

Might be more than one problem.
You need to be more specific with the symptoms to build up a better picture based on what he has or hasn’t got, eg back pain, stomach pain - sharp / dull, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, describe the rash is it red / pink / crusty, etc.

Also worth checking: has he changed any of his medications, diet, washing powder etc.

He has no pain according to the nursing home

hes itchy everywhere and hes full of scabs from scratching he’s lost lots of weight when i seen him in person last was Christmas eve its was dark red raw because of the lockdown we are not allowed visit, he has no mobile phone he hates technology so can’t speak to him in hospital and nurses understandably wont let patients use the hospital phones, his poor belly looks like a pregnant womans and he’s coughing and out of breath the last 2 possible over his fibrosis of his lung

Hope you get the advice of a specialist. Could be cirrhosis, or even linked back to his worsening heart problems - which in turn cause swelling and would put body under stress which can bring on rashes etc. Fingers crossed you get to the root of the problem.

Unfortunately Googling ailments can send you off at a tangent & you can believe you've got everything under the sun. He may have multiple problems! I'd just keep pushing the medics as he who shouts loudest etc, hope he recovers 🤞

All the best our Irish friend and hope things get sorted.

(The other thing I thought of was phlebitis)
